Gamal Mahmoud Ahmed El-Ghandour ( ar, جمال محمود الغندور; born June 12, 1957) is a retired Egyptian referee. Details El-Ghandour has refereed the 2002 African Cup of Nations final (Cameroon vs Senegal), the second leg of the 2002 African Cup Winners' Cup final (Asante Kotoko FC, Kotoko (Ghana, Gha) 2:1 Wydad AC Casablanca, WAC (Morocco, Mar)), and five successive African Cup of Nations, 1994 African Cup of Nations, 1994, 1996 African Cup of Nations, 1996, 1998 African Cup of Nations, 1998, 2000 African Cup of Nations, 2000, and 2002 African Cup of Nations, 2002. The 2002 FIFA World Cup qualification, ran from 2000 to 2001 in order to determine the three representatives at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. For an overview of the qualification rounds, see 2002 FIFA World Cup qualification. A total of 35 CONCACAF teams entered the competition. Guyana withdrew before playing, leaving 34 nations in the race. Mexico, USA, Jamaica and Costa Rica, the four highest-ranked teams according to FIFA, received byes and advanced to the semi-finals, while Canada advanced directly to the "play-offs" between Caribbean and Central teams.
