Galvin Railway Station
Galvin railway station is a closed railway station which was located on the Werribee line of the Melbourne suburban rail system in Australia. It was located adjacent to Maidstone Street, Altona, and was situated between Paisley and Laverton stations. Galvin was opened on 27 August 1927 and was named after Michael Galvin, the Werribee shire president at the time. It was a public platform, but it played a particular role in providing passenger services for workers at industries being established in the area. The Werribee railway line is a commuter rail passenger train service in Melbourne, Australia, operating between Werribee in the western suburbs to Flinders Street in the central business district. A number of railway lines and stations which formed part of the greater Melbourne railway network have been closed over time, either in part or in full. The decision to close a railway station has historically been made by the department responsible for rail transport within the Government of Victoria. It was located between Newport and Galvin stations, adjacent to the Millers Road level crossing (later replaced by a road overpass). Paisley was opened on 14 October 1929.
