Galicia (; gl, Galicia or ; es, Galicia}; pt, Galiza) is an autonomous community of Spain and historic nationality under Spanish law. Erinea Garcia Gallegos
Erinea Garcia Gallegos (1903–2002) was an American educator and postmistress. Born in Conejos, Colorado, her family had deep roots in the region, being among the first settlers of the San Luis Valley that overlaps southern Colorado and northern New Mexico. She taught in elementary schools before her marriage and afterward served as postmistress of San Luis for nearly four decades. She was posthumously inducted into the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame in 2012. Early life, family, and education Erinea Garcia was born in Conejos, Colorado, in 1903. Her father, José Amarante García, had eight children from his first wife, Sofia Espinosa de García. After Sofia's death, he married her sister, Teodora Espinosa de García, who bore him four children, including Erinea. José Manuel Gallegos Rocafull
José Manuel Gallegos Rocafull (b. Cádiz, August 21, 1895 - d. Mexico, 1963) was a Spanish priest, canon of the Cathedral of Cordoba, theologian and philosopher. Gallegos studied at the General and Technical Institute of Seville and later at the Theological Seminary. Upon completion of basic academic training, he matriculated to the Seminary of Madrid to continue his religious training, attending the Pontifical University of Toledo where he graduated in theology in 1920. He later earned his doctorate in the Pontificia Universidad de Sevilla. As chaplain of the Adoration of Madrid, he received a BA in philosophy and literature from the Central University. In 1921 he was appointed canon of the Cathedral of Granada, where he promoted, together with the bishopric, a significant undertaking in construction projects and equipment housing. José Manuel Gallegos
José Manuel Gallegos (October 30, 1815 – April 21, 1875) was a delegate to the US Congress from the Territory of New Mexico. Biography Born in Abiquiú, in what is now Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, Gallegos attended parochial schools. He studied theology at the Jesuit run College of Durango (Colegio de Durango), Republic of Mexico, graduated in 1840, and was ordained a Roman Catholic priest. He served as member of the legislative assembly of what was then the territory of Santa Fe de Nuevo México, Republic of Mexico, from 1843 to 1846. He served as member of the first territorial council of the Territory of New Mexico in 1851. Gallegos was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-third US Congress (March 4, 1853 – March 3, 1855). José Guadalupe Gallegos
José Guadalupe Gallegos (April 13, 1828 – May 18, 1867) was a native New Mexican military leader, county sheriff, rancher and politician. In 1854 he served as brigadier general in the volunteer Mounted Militia of New Mexico (Territory) formed for the purpose of protecting communities against Native American attacks. Prior to the Battle of Glorieta Pass, he was a Union field and staff Colonel in the Civil War, serving as commander of the 3rd New Mexico Volunteer Infantry and as commander of the Hatch's Ranch military post. He represented San Miguel County in four of the six Assemblies of the Territorial Legislature between 1855-1861 and served as House Speaker and as Council President. José Gallegos y Arnosa (3 May 1857, Jerez de la Frontera - 20 September 1917, Anzio) was a Spanish painter and sculptor; best known for his church and clerical scenes. Biography His father was employed by a winery. He was attracted to drawing and painting at an early age. He and his friend, Salvador Sánchez Barbudo, who shared his interests, frequently visited the studios of Luis Sevil (1817-1893), a local still-life painter. After learning as much as he could in Jerez, he left for Madrid in 1873 with the support of his father's employer, Guillermo Garvey (1834-?). There, he enrolled at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando. At his father's prompting, he initially studied architecture, but soon switched to painting and became a student of Federico de Madrazo.
