Galician Writers Association
Galician Writers Association ( gl, Asociación de Escritores en Lingua Galega, AELG) is an official entity of the autonomous region of Galicia's Xunta (government / board). The organization is formed by writers in galician language. It was founded by a group of writers: Álvaro Cunqueiro, Rafael Dieste, Ánxel Fole, Ricardo Carballo Calero, Antón Avilés de Taramancos, and others. It was named by the Swedish Academy to present candidates to the Nobel Prize and is part of the ''European Writers Congress''. Every year AELG celebrates "O escritor na súa terra" (Hometown Writers) ceremony dedicated to a Galician language writer trajectory and awards the ''AELG Prize'' to the best Galician language work of the year. At present, Galician Writers Association is placed in a A Coruña, presided by Euloxio Ruibal, and also directed by Carlos Negro, Carlos L. Galicia (Spain)
Galicia (; gl, Galicia or ; es, Galicia}; pt, Galiza) is an autonomous community of Spain and historic nationality under Spanish law. Located in the northwest Iberian Peninsula, it includes the provinces of A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense, and Pontevedra. Galicia is located in Atlantic Europe. Xunta De Galicia
The Xunta de Galicia (; "Regional Government of Galicia") is the collective decision-making body of the government of the autonomous community of Galicia, composed of the President, the Vice-President(s) and the specialized ministers (''Conselleiros''). The Xunta has at its disposal a vast bureaucratic organization based at Santiago de Compostela, the Galician government capital. Álvaro Cunqueiro
Álvaro Cunqueiro Mora (Mondoñedo, December 22, 1911 – Vigo, February 28, 1981) was a Galician novelist, poet, playwright, and journalist. He is the author of many works in both Galician and Spanish, including ''Merlín e familia'' ("Merlin and family"). He was a cofounder of the Galician Writers Association. In 1991, Galician Literature Day was dedicated to him. Life Cunqueiro was born to Joaquín Cunqueiro Montenegro, a pharmacist, and Pepita Mora Moirón of Mondoñedo (where he was infamous for his practice of stealing coats at parties). He did his ''bachillerato'' (secondary school) studies in the ''Instituto Xeral e Técnico'' (General and Technical Institute) in the city of Lugo, where he befriended the writers Evaristo Correa Calderón and Ánxel Fole. The Swedish Academy ( sv, Svenska Akademien), founded in 1786 by King Gustav III of Sweden, Gustav III, is one of the Swedish Royal Academies, Royal Academies of Sweden. A Coruña (; es, La Coruña ; historical English: Corunna or The Groyne) is a city and municipality of Galicia, Spain. A Coruña is the most populated city in Galicia and the second most populated municipality in the autonomous community and seventeenth overall in the country. Rafa Villar
Rafa Villar ( Cee, Galicia, 1968 - ) is a Galician writer noted especially in the field of poetry. He has a degree in Galician-Portuguese Philology from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, and works in the linguistic normalization service of the Confederación Intersindical Galega. He was spokesman for the national operator of the Plataforma Nunca Máis and part of the directive of the Galician Writers Association. He is a member of the Batallón Literario da Costa da Morte and was also one of the founders and promoters of the publishing firm Letras de Cal. He began to become known in the year 1991, when he won the Premio Fermín Bouza Brey for new authors with ''Liques da Memoria''. He is interested in alternative publishing formats, and was one of the first Galician authors to digitize their works. Royal Galician Academy
The Royal Galician Academy ( gl, Real Academia Galega, RAG) is an institution dedicated to the study of Galician culture and especially the Galician language; it promulgates norms of grammar, spelling, and vocabulary and works to promote the language. The Academy is based in A Coruña, Galicia, Spain. The current president is Víctor Fernández Freixanes. History In 1905 the Sociedade Protectora da Academia Gallega was founded in La Habana, Cuba. Then on September 30, 1906, thanks to the efforts of writers Manuel Curros Enríquez and Xosé Fontenla Leal, it was reestablished as the ''Real Academia Galega''.
