Galerie St. Petri
Galerie St. Petri is a Conceptual art gallery situated in Lund, Sweden. It was opened by Jean Sellem, a French artist who immigrated to Sweden in the 1970s and is a professor of Art history at Lund University. In the 1970s the gallery called: "Galerie S:t Petri - Archive of Experimental and Marginal Art" quickly became an international Conceptual art and Performance art space, closely collaborating with Fluxus artists like Eric Andersen (artist), Eric Andersen, Ken Friedman and Tomas Schmit as well as organizing individual exhibitions of works by artists such as Christian Boltanski, :nl:Henck van Dijck, Henck van Dijck, John Fekner, Arne Groh, Jarosław Kozłowski, Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, Carel Lanters, Endre Tot, Endre TÓT, Horst Tress, Jacek Tylicki and Krzysztof Wodiczko among others. Conceptual Art
Conceptual art, also referred to as conceptualism, is art in which the concept(s) or idea(s) involved in the work take precedence over traditional aesthetic, technical, and material concerns. Some works of conceptual art, sometimes called installations, may be constructed by anyone simply by following a set of written instructions. This method was fundamental to American artist Sol LeWitt's definition of conceptual art, one of the first to appear in print: Tony Godfrey, author of ''Conceptual Art (Art & Ideas)'' (1998), asserts that conceptual art questions the nature of art, a notion that Joseph Kosuth elevated to a definition of art itself in his seminal, early manifesto of conceptual art, ''Art after Philosophy'' (1969).
