Galerie Kamel Mennour
Galerie Kamel Mennour is a contemporary art gallery in Paris, France, owned and directed by Kamel Mennour. History The first space, 50sqm, was inaugurated on Rue Mazarine in 1999. Dedicated to contemporary photography, the gallery showed works of international artists, little known in France, like Larry Clark, Stephen Shore or Nobuyoshi Araki, alongside more established artists such as Pierre Molinier. Meanwhile, the gallery began to publish catalogs, accompanying these exhibitions. Today more than forty catalogs have been published by Kamel Mennour Editions. The gallery gained reputation abroad by participating for the first time at Paris Photo in 1999, at the Foire Internationale d'Art Contemporain in 2000 and at Art Basel in 2003. The Silver Lion ( it, Leone d'argento, also known as Silver Lion for Best Direction) is an annual award presented for best directing achievements in a feature film at official competition section of the Venice Film Festival since 1998. Grand Palais
The Grand Palais des Champs-Élysées ( en, Great Palace of the Elysian Fields), commonly known as the Grand Palais (English: Great Palace), is a historic site, exhibition hall and museum complex located at the Champs-Élysées in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, France. Construction of the Grand Palais began in 1897 following the demolition of the Palais de l'Industrie (Palace of Industry) to prepare for the Universal Exposition of 1900. Martial Raysse
Martial Raysse (born 12 February 1936 in Golfe-Juan) is a French artist and actor. He lives in Issigeac, France. He holds the record for the most expensive work sold by a living French artist. Biography Raysse was born in a ceramicist family in Vallauris and began to paint and write poetry at age 12. After studying and practising athleticism at a high level, he began to accumulate rubbish odds and ends that he preserved under plexiglas. In 1958, he exhibited some of his paintings with Jean Cocteau at Galerie Longchamp. Fascinated by the beauty of plastic, he plundered low-costs shops with plastic items and developed what became his "vision hygiene" concept; a vision that showcases consumer society. This work received attention and critical praise in 1961, and at a commercial gallery in Milan, his exhibition sold out 15 minutes before the opening. Gina Pane
Gina Pane (Biarritz, May 24, 1939 – Paris, March 6, 1990) was a French artist of Italian origins. She studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1960 to 1965 and was a member of the 1970s Body Art movement in France, called "Art corporel". Parallel to her art, Pane taught at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Mans from 1975 to 1990 and ran an atelier dedicated to performance art at the Centre Pompidou from 1978 to 1979 at the request of Pontus Hulten. Pane is possibly best known for her performance piece ''The Conditioning'' (1973), in which she is laid on a metal bedframe over an area of burning candles. ''The Conditioning'' was recreated by Marina Abramović as part of her ''Seven Easy Pieces'' (2005) at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York in 2005.
