Campagna (Italian: ) is a small town and ''comune'' of the province of Salerno, in the Campania region of Southern Italy. Its population is 17,148. Its old Latin name was Civitas Campaniae (City of Campagna). Campagna is located in one of the valleys of the Picentini Mountains, at an altitude of 270 meters above sea level. History The first records of the area date back to the ninth century in the Lombard period. The position of the town was strategic for enemies attacks during the Middle Ages. Lately, the town became an important cultural and religious center. It was the seat of bishops until 1973, when the Diocese of Campagna merged with the Archdiocese of Salerno. Pollica
Pollica (Campanian: ) is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. Located 94 km from Salerno, the town rises to an elevation 370 meters from sea level. History The first mention of Pollica dates back to a legal document from 1113 in which Targisius II Sanseverino donated property to the Abbott of Cava. In the 13th century the town was owned by the Alemagna, who sold it to the Capano, a family originally from Rocca Cilento. The Capano, who held the noble title of princes, governed the town until 1795 when there were no heirs and the town became the property of the De Liguoro, who held it until 1806 (end of the feudal system). In 1997 the town purchased the "Castello Capano" (Capano's Castle). Lauria
Lauria is a town and ''comune'' of the province of Potenza, in Basilicata, southern Italy, situated near the borders of Calabria. It is a walled, medieval town on the steep side of a hill, with another portion of municipal territory in the plain below. It is historically the largest city in the southwestern Lucania region. History The original nucleus of the city appeared probably in the 10th century, near the place where later the Sanctuary of Madonna dell'Armo was edificated. Vincenzo Galdi (11 October 1871 – 23 December 1961) was an Italian model and photographer. Galdi is regarded as a pioneer in Italian erotic photography. He is known to be first in breaking the taboo of not depicting an erect penis. Biography Early years Galdi was born in Naples on October 11, 1871. His father Vincenzo was one of the descendants of an ancient Italian noble house with title of baron, one of whose ancestors was a Norman knight, who participated in liberation of Salerno from the Saracens. He belonged to a branch, which in the middle of the eighteenth century had settled in Marigliano and inherited the title of Castelan of Ischia and Procida, as well as Lord of Corleone in Sicily.
