Galacticast
Galacticast is a Canadian web series created by Rudy Jahchan and Casey McKinnon. The first episode aired on May 8, 2006. The program is a sketch comedy video blog that parodies the latest science fiction or internet meme and responds to feedback from their loyal fanbase. Though it first launched as a variety channel, it later switched exclusively to comedy. After a lengthy hiatus, the show came back in November 2008 with a fake commercial produced for comic artist Tony Moore. Cast McKinnon and Jahchan usually take the lead roles in each episode, but also call on their friends and fellow actors to guest star. McKinnon often plays multiple characters in a single episode. Production Most episodes are written and directed by Jahchan, with the exception of ''Battlestar Galacticast'' which was directed by independent filmmaker Matt Campagna. Casey McKinnon
Casey McKinnon is a Canadian actress and producer from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She is known for her work on web series Galacticast, ''A Comicbook Orange'' and ''Kitkast''. Background Born and raised in Montreal, McKinnon attended St. Thomas High School with partner Rudy Jahchan and studied East Asian studies at McGill University alongside royal friend Autumn Phillips; herself both a McGill and St Thomas High School alumna. Before pursuing a full-time career in new media, she worked for the United Nations. Career Web series McKinnon first became known under the pseudonym Ms. Kitka, the host of sex news and entertainment show ''Kitkast'', launched on October 15, 2005. Rudy Jahchan
Rudy Jahchan is the co-producer and star of the internet shows ''Galacticast'', ''A Comicbook Orange'', and '' Kitkast''. The primary writer and director of the shows, he managed the technical aspects such as devising the special effects and developing their websites, and co-starred alongside Casey McKinnon. Parsec Awards
The Parsec Awards were a set of annual awards created to recognize excellence in science fiction podcasts and podcast novels. The awards were created by Mur Lafferty, Tracy Hickman and Michael R. Mennenga and awarded by FarPoint Media. They were first presented in 2006 at DragonCon. In 2009 the awards were described as "one of the most recognizable honors in science and fiction podcasting". The awards were given from 2006 to 2018. Nominations were accepted from the listening public annually in each of the categories. The list was vetted for eligibility by the steering committee, before producers were invited to submit samples of work for consideration by a panel of judges. The panel reduced the list of nominees to five finalists in each category.
