Gajanur, Tamil Nadu
Gajanur (pronounced: Gaajanoor) is a village in Thalavadi taluk, Erode district of Tamil Nadu, India. It is also known as Dodda Gajanur. The village is located from the Karnataka–Tamil Nadu border, and is south of the town of Thalavadi. Most of roads are connected to Karnataka state. Gajanur is the birthplace of Kannada matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar, who was kidnapped by Veerappan from his native house in Gajanur on 30 July 2000. Thalavadi taluk is a taluk of Erode district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Thalavadi became a separate taluk within Erode district by the bifurcation of Sathyamangalam, Modakurichi and Kodumudi taluks on 8 March 2016. Kidnapping Of Rajkumar
Kannada film actor Rajkumar was abducted by Indian dacoit Veerappan on July 30, 2000, during the course of an armed attack on a farmhouse belonging to the actor in Gajanur, Tamil Nadu, India. Rajkumar was released by Veerappan on November 15, 2000, after spending 108 days in his custody. The kidnapping resulted in further deterioration of already strained relations between the Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, creating a tense situation in the two states. Background Kidnapping people and ransoming them for political favours was a part of Veerappan's ''modus operandi''.
