Gail Katz
Gail Katz is a film, television, and theatrical producer. Katz heads Gail Katz Productions. Katz has worked at New World Pictures, where she was Vice President of Finance, then Vice President of Production. After leaving New World, Katz began producing films, starting with '' Shattered''. She partnered with director Wolfgang Petersen throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, the two directed/produced many films. She has served as CEO of Radiant Productions, and as a founder of Red Cliff Productions. She was an executive producer on the ABC drama/comedy '' Cashmere Mafia'', which Gail Katz Productions produced. She has a B.A. in economics from the University of California at Berkeley and a M.B.A from the Yale School of Management. Katz is currently a professor at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. A film producer is a person who oversees film production. Either employed by a production company or working independently, producers plan and coordinate various aspects of film production, such as selecting the script, coordinating writing, directing, editing, and arranging financing. The producer is responsible for finding and selecting promising material for development. Unless the film is based on an existing script, the producer hires a screenwriter and oversees the script's development. These activities culminate with the pitch, led by the producer, to secure the financial backing that enables production to begin. If all succeeds, the project is "greenlighted".
