Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools is a school district headquartered in Gahanna, Ohio, in the Columbus, Ohio metropolitan area. In addition to almost all of Gahanna, the district serves a portion of Columbus. Its territory is in Jefferson and Mifflin townships. History Circa 2007 the district began holding Chinese classes, with 40 students enrolled in them altogether. By 2011 this number was up to 350, and the district was attempting to secure grants from the U.S. federal government and the central government of China, with each being $1,000,000 and $30,000, respectively. By January 2011 the Hanban agreed to give a $30,000 grant. Gahanna, Ohio
Gahanna ( ) is a city situated in northeast Franklin County, Ohio, United States. It is a suburb of Columbus. The population was 35,726 at the 2020 census. It was founded in 1849. History Gahanna was founded along the Big Walnut Creek in 1849 by John Clark of Ross County from of land that his father, Joseph Clark, had purchased from Governor Worthington in 1814. Clark named his property the Gahanna Plantation, from which the City of Gahanna derives its name. The name Gahanna is derived from a Native American word for three creeks joining into one and is the former name of the Big Walnut Creek. The City of Gahanna's Official Seal refers to this confluence of three creeks with the inscription "Three In One". Gahanna maintained a considerable rivalry with the adjacent village of Bridgeport. Reynoldsburg High School (RHS) is a public high school located in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, United States, and the only high school in the Reynoldsburg City School District. The school is divided into five academies housed at two separate campuses, each of which has its own academy leaders and administrative team. Groveport is a city in Franklin County, Ohio, United States. It is a suburb of Columbus. The population was 6,009 at the 2020 census. Groveport was the hometown of John Solomon Rarey, a 19th-century horse whisperer, and developer of the Rarey technique for rehabilitating horses. History The current school building opened in 1928 in what is now known as Lincoln Hall. Multiple expansions have been made to the building, most recently with the addition of Clark Hall in 2011.
