Gael Linn Cup 1993
The 1993 Gael Linn Cup, the most important representative competition for elite level participants in the women's team field sport of camogie, was won by Leinster, who defeated Ulster in the final, played at Conneff Park Clane. For the first year of a two-year experimental period, the Gael Linn Cups were played with teams of 15-a-side, as a prelude to the increase in team size from 12 to 15 in 1999 for all matches. Arrangements Leinster defeated Munster 5–7 to 2–10 at Clane. Ulster received a walkover from Connacht. The Leinster Council is a provincial council of the Gaelic Athletic Association sports of hurling, Gaelic football, camogie, rounders and handball in the province of Leinster. The Down County Board ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae An Dún) or Down GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Down, Northern Ireland. The County Board is responsible for preparing the Down county teams in the various Gaelic sporting codes; football, hurling, camogie and handball. The county football team was the second from the province of Ulster to win an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC), following Cavan, and also the first team from Northern Ireland to win the Sam Maguire Cup since partition, doing so in 1960. Angela Downey-Browne (born 1957, Kilkenny) is a retired Irish sportsperson. She played camogie at various times with her local clubs, St Paul’s Camogie Club, St Paul's camogie club based in Kilkenny city and Lisdowney GAA, Lisdowney, and was a member of the Kilkenny GAA, Kilkenny senior inter-county team from 1970 until 1995. Downey is regarded as the greatest player in the history of the game. Downey's reputation as one of the all-time greats of camogie is self-evident.
