Gadi Yevarkan
Desta "Gadi" Yevarkan ( he, דֵסְטַה "גָּדִי" יִבַרקָן, born 1 January 1981) is an Israeli politician. He was elected to the Knesset for Likud in 2020, having previously served as a Knesset member for the Blue and White alliance between 2019 and 2020. Biography Yevarkan was born in Ethiopia. His family emigrated to Israel in 1991 as part of Operation Solomon, and initially settled in Tiberias before moving to a caravan site in kibbutz Hulda. He attended the Mikveh Israel boarding school. During his national service in the Israel Defense Forces, he served in the reconnaissance unit of the Givati Brigade, reaching the rank of lieutenant. He subsequently studied for a bachelor's degree in law at the College of Management. Yevarkan ran for a place on the Likud list for the 2009 and 2013 Knesset elections, but was unsuccessful on both occasions. Blue And White (political Alliance)
Blue and White ( he, כָּחוֹל לָבָן ''Kaḥol Lavan'') is a centrist and liberal political alliance in Israel. It was established by the Israel Resilience Party, Yesh Atid and Telem to run in the April 2019 Knesset election, in hopes of defeating Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Blue and White defines itself as a pluralistic alliance representing all citizens on the political and religious spectrums. The phrase "blue and white" refers to the colors of the Israeli flag, and is colloquially used to describe something as being typically Israeli. Following the March 2020 elections, Blue and White leader Benny Gantz was tasked with forming a new government after receiving endorsements from a majority of 61 MKs. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Gantz instead opted to put himself forward as interim Speaker of the Knesset while continuing negotiations to form a coalition government with Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud and other parties. Be'eri
Be'eri ( he, בְּאֵרִי) is a kibbutz in southern Israel. Located in the north-western Negev desert near the border with the Gaza Strip, it falls under the jurisdiction of Eshkol Regional Council. In it had a population of . History Kibbutz Beeri was established on 6 October 1946 as one of the 11 points in the Negev. It was located near Wadi Nahabir, a few kilometres south of Be'erot Yitzhak. Its founders were members of the HaNoar HaOved VeHaLomed movement, who had been preparing in Maoz Haim, as well as some Hebrew scouts. It was named after Berl Katznelson, as Be'eri (Beeri) (a biblical name) was his pen name. In 1947 Be'eri had a population of over 150. The early settlers engaged in land reclamation and tree planting. The group was enlarged by young Jews from Iraq who arrived by desert trek. 2021 Israeli Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Israel on 23 March 2021 to elect the 120 members of the 24th Knesset. It was the fourth election in two years. Yair Lapid and Naftali Bennett announced that they had formed a rotation government on 2 June 2021, which was approved on 13 June 2021. Yorai Lahav-Hertzano ( he, יוֹרַאי לַהַב־הֵרְצָנוּ, born 5 August 1988) is an Israeli politician. He currently serves as a member of the Knesset for Yesh Atid. Biography Born in Tel Aviv, Lahav-Hertzano was chair of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Student Council for three years whilst at school. He graduated from Tel Aviv University with an LLB and a BA in Middle Eastern and African history. He also gained a executive master's of law (ELLM) in public law from Tel Aviv University and Northwestern University. Although he received an exemption from national service for health reasons, he volunteered to serve in the Israel Defense Forces and spent six years in the army, the latter two as part of the IDF delegation to India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Snap legislative elections were held in Israel on 17 September 2019 to elect the 120 members of the 22nd Knesset. Following the previous elections in April, incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu failed to form a governing coalition for a second consecutive time. On 30 May, the Knesset voted to dissolve itself and trigger new elections, in order to prevent Blue and White party leader Benny Gantz from being appointed Prime Minister-designate. This election marked the first time the Knesset voted to dissolve itself before a government had been formed. Telem ( he, תל״ם, an acronym for ''Tnua Leumit Mamlakhtit'', lit. ''National Statesman-like Movement'') is a centre-right political party in Israel. The party was formed by former Ministry of Defense (Israel), Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon and registered on 2 January 2019 in order to contest the April 2019 Israeli legislative election, April 2019 Knesset elections. It subsequently joined the Blue and White (political alliance), Blue & White alliance. Yesh Atid and the party left the alliance on 29 March 2020 after Blue and White joined the government and instead formed an independent faction in the Knesset called Yesh Atid-Telem.
