Gabriele Fontana
Gabriele Fontana (b. 1958 Innsbruck) is an Austrian operatic soprano. Biography Fontana made her professional opera debut in 1980 as Pamina in ''Die Zauberflöte'' with Oper Frankfurt. She joined the Hamburg State Opera in 1982 where she sang Pamina, Konstanze in ''Die Entführung aus dem Serail'', Sophie in ''Der Rosenkavalier'' and the role of Sophie Scholl in the world premiere of Udo Zimmermann's '' Weisse Rose''; the latter of which she reprised and recorded two years later at the Vienna State Opera. Since then Fontana has been a regular presence at the world's best opera houses making appearances in Hannover, Amsterdam, Berlin, Cologne, Munich, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Barcelona, Trieste, Geneva, Tokyo, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and New York. She has also been a regular performer at the Salzburg Festival and has made appearances at the Glyndebourne Festival, Vienna Festival, the Bregenzer Festspiele, the London Proms, Carinthischer Sommer, Festival di Carpi, Prague Spring Fest ... Glyndebourne Festival Opera is an annual opera festival held at Glyndebourne, an English country house near Lewes, in East Sussex, England. History Under the supervision of the Christie family, the festival has been held annually since 1934, except in 1941–45 during World War II and 1993 when the theatre was being rebuilt, for a 1994 reopening. Gus Christie, son of Sir George Christie and grandson of festival founder John Christie, became festival chairman in 2000. Prague Spring Festival
The Prague Spring International Music Festival ( cs, Mezinárodní hudební festival Pražské jaro, commonly cs, Pražské jaro, Prague Spring) is a classical music festival held every year in Prague, Czech Republic, with symphony orchestras and chamber music ensembles from around the world. The first festival was held in 1946 under the patronage of Czechoslovak president Edvard Beneš, and its organizing committee was made up of important figures in Czech musical life. In that year, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra was celebrating its fiftieth anniversary and was therefore granted to appear in all of the orchestral concerts. The Proms
The BBC Proms or Proms, formally named the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts Presented by the BBC, is an eight-week summer season of daily orchestral classical music concerts and other events held annually, predominantly in the Royal Albert Hall in central London. Bregenzer Festspiele (; Bregenz Festival) is a performing arts festival which is held every July and August in Bregenz in Vorarlberg (Austria). It features a large floating stage which is situated on Lake Constance. History The Festival became an international event in its first year 1946, one year after World War II. People from Germany, Switzerland and France came to the festival. Two stages were created out of floating barges. One barge for the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the other barge for carrying stage structures. The Vienna Symphony Orchestra is the biggest contributor to the Festival.
