Gabriel Sava
Gabriel Sava (born 15 October 1986) is a Romanian footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Warrenpoint Town in the NIFL Premiership. He was born in Bacău and played youth football for Lazio, before beginning a career in Ireland in 2001. Throughout his career there, he has played for Drogheda Town, Bray Wanderers, Monaghan United, Drogheda United, Dundalk and Bray Wanderers. He has made three appearances in the UEFA Europa League throughout his career and was a member of Dundalk's squad when they became the first Irish side to reach the play-off round of the UEFA Champions League in August 2016. Gabriel got engaged in December 2020. Early life Sava was born in Bacău, Romania and raised in Rome, Italy. He played youth football for Lazio. In 2001, his family were invited to visit some Italian friends living in Dublin, and his brother was offered a job as a chef at their restaurant in Drogheda. Bacău
Bacău ( , , ; hu, Bákó; la, Bacovia) is the main city in Bacău County, Romania. At the 2016 national estimation it had a population of 196,883, making it the 12th largest city in Romania. The League of Ireland Cup ( ga, Corn Sraithe na hÉireann), also referred to in Ireland as the 'League Cup', is an annual knockout competition in men's football in the Republic of Ireland. It is contested by League of Ireland clubs and invited clubs from the lower levels of the Republic of Ireland football league system. It has been sponsored by Electronic Arts and branded the EA Sports Cup since 2009. The competition began in 1973–74, replacing the League of Ireland Shield and the Dublin City Cup. It has had several formats since its inception and has been a knock-out competition since 2005. Monaghan United F.C. ( ga, Cumann Peile Mhuineacháin Aontaithe) is an Irish association football club based in Monaghan currently playing in the Ulster Senior League. The club joined the League of Ireland in 1983 and subsequently went on to play in the B Division, the First Division and the Premier Division. Dan Connor (footballer)
Daniel Connor (born 31 January 1981 in Dublin) is a retired Irish football goalkeeper who is currently goalkeeper coach at Forest Green Rovers and Republic of Ireland U21. Connor was one of the more experienced goalkeepers in the league, having previously played for Peterborough United, Waterford United and Drogheda United. He also represented the Republic of Ireland at both U21 and B level, making his U21 debut in Buckley Park in June 2003 against Georgia. While with Waterford United he scored the winning goal in the FAI Cup semi-final in 2004. Following his release from Drogheda United at the end of the 2008 season, it was confirmed on 23 January 2009 that Connor had signed for Cork City, where he linked up with former Drogheda manager Paul Doolin. Paul Doolin (born 26 March 1963, in Dublin) is an Irish former footballer and manager. Who mostly recently managed NIFL Premiership side Portadown. Career He played for Bohemians, scoring on his debut on 13 September 1981. In April 1983 he played for the League of Ireland XI U21s against their Italian League counterparts who included Roberto Mancini and Gianluca Vialli in their team. In June 1985 he signed for Shamrock Rovers and in his three years at the club won the double twice scoring 30 goals in 107 appearances. In his first season at Milltown he was the club's top goalscorer with 11 goals. He made six appearances in European competition for the Hoops and played for the League of Ireland XI in 5 Olympics qualifiers. In 1988, he joined Derry City, where he won a domestic treble in 1989.
