Gabriel Giurgiu
Gabriel Nicu Giurgiu (born 3 September 1982) is a Romanian football official and a former player. He is the sporting director for Universitatea Cluj. In his career Giurgiu also played for teams such as Universitatea Cluj, Oțelul Galați or Maccabi Netanya, among others. Club career Giurgiu started his senior career in Universitatea Cluj. In January 2007, he signed up in Oțelul Galați. After a series of good performances he was transferred to Rubin Kazan during the summer break in 2007. A few months later, in January 2008, he was loaned back to Oțelul until the end of the season. In May, he returned to Rubin. In January 2009, he completed his return to Oțelul Galați. The Cupa Ligii ( en, League Cup) was Romania's secondary club football tournament. Like the Cupa României, it was played on a knockout (single elimination) basis. History It is unclear when the competition was first created, as there are no official recordings. It probably started sometime after 1990, but there may already have been an edition as early as 1978. Cupa Ligii was meant to shorten the break between the end of the league season and the start of a major international competition. It had a friendly character and was last played in 2000 before being dropped. The Russian Premier League 2008 was the 17th edition of the Russian Football Championship, and the seventh under the current Russian Premier League name. The season started on Friday, 14 March 2008 with a match between Terek and Krylia Sovetov in Grozny. Krylia Sovetov won 3–0. The Supercupa României ( en, Romanian Supercup) is a Romanian football championship contested by the winners of the Liga I and the Cupa României. It is usually played at the Arena Națională in Bucharest. The competition started off in 1994, with the first edition being won by Steaua București. The 2010–11 Liga I was the ninety-third season of the top-level football league of Romania. The season commenced on 23 July 2010 and ended on 21 May 2011. A winter break where no matches were played was held between 11 December 2010 and 18 February 2011. A total of eighteen teams participated in the league, where CFR Cluj were the defending champions. Teams Politehnica Iași, Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț and Unirea Alba Iulia were relegated to Liga II after finishing the 2009–10 season in the bottom three places. Currently sponsored by betting company Superbet, it is officially known as the SuperLiga. The 2007 UEFA Intertoto Cup was the 19th and penultimate edition of the competition and took 50 entries. UEFA Intertoto Cup
The UEFA Intertoto Cup (from la, Inter, 'between' + german: toto, 'betting pool'),Most precisely, from (football pool); cf. often abbreviated and more known in the German-speaking world as UI Cup and originally called the International Football Cup, was a summer football competition. The competition was discontinued after the 2008 tournament. Teams who originally would have entered the Intertoto Cup now directly enter the qualifying stages of the UEFA Europa League from this point.
