Gabriel Escobar (footballer)
Gabriel Ricardo Escobar Flores (born 4 April 2000) is a Salvadoran professional footballer who plays for TSS FC Rovers in League1 British Columbia. Early life Born in San Miguel, El Salvador, Escobar moved to Vancouver, Canada, at age six. He began playing football with TSS FC Rovers immediately upon arrival in Canada, later joining Cliff Avenue United and the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy. He played at the amateur adult level with FC Tigers Vancouver. Club career In 2022, he joined TSS FC Rovers in League1 British Columbia, being named to the L1BC Team of the Week five times and helping the Rovers win the championship final, where he scored the winning penalty kick in their shootout victory over Varsity FC. In August 2022, he signed a contract for the remainder of the 2022 season, with club options for 2023 and 2024, with HFX Wanderers FC of the Canadian Premier League. San Miguel () is a city in eastern El Salvador. It is the country's third most populous city. It is located 138 km east of the capital, San Salvador. It is also the capital of the department of San Miguel and a municipality. The population of the city in 2017 was 518,410. 2023 League1 British Columbia Season
The 2023 League1 British Columbia season was the second season of play for League1 British Columbia, a pro-am league in the Canadian soccer league system. Eight clubs participated in both the men's and women's divisions. Format The regular season was contested by eight clubs and ran from April 29 to July 23, 2023. Each team played 14 games in a double round-robin format with seven games at home and seven on the road. The top four teams advanced to the playoffs with the Championship Final held on the BC Day long weekend. The men's and women's divisions used identical schedules with the two matches being played as double-headers on the same day. Men's division The teams played each other team twice (home and away) for a 14-game season, with the top four teams advancing to the playoffs.
