Gabre Gabric
Ljubica Gabrić-Calvesi (17 October 1914 – 16 December 2015), known as Gabre Gabric, was an Italian track and field athlete who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics and in the 1948 Summer Olympics. Her best discus throw was 43.35 m (1939). Biography Ljubica Gabrić was born in Imotski, Croatia (then part of Austria-Hungary). She was wife of Sandro Calvesi, an Italian athletic coach (hurdles), and mother-in-law of Eddy Ottoz (grandmother of Laurent Ottoz and Patrick Ottoz). While many sources give a birth year of 1914 and she competed in masters-level tournaments with this year of birth, Gabrić claimed in an interview that she was born in 1917 and that 1914 was a transcription error: however, this admission is in contradiction with additional sources, including her arrival in the United States at age 9 in 1923, documented by Ellis Island records and the fact that Olympic documents dating to the 1936 and 1948 Olympics establish a birthdate of 17 October 1914, probably o ... Gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor subunit epsilon is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ''GABRE'' gene. The product of this gene belongs to the ligand-gated ionic channel (TC 1.A.9) family. Macerata () is a city and ''comune'' in central Italy, the county seat of the province of Macerata in the Marche region. It has a population of about 41,564. History The historical city centre is on a hill between the Chienti and Potenza rivers. World Masters Athletics (WMA) is the worldwide governing body for the sport of masters athletics – which includes track and field, cross country, and road running events – as participated by people over 35 years of age. As the need became apparent, the organization started under the name of World Association of Veteran Athletes (WAVA), founded August 9, 1977, at the second World Association of Veteran Athletes Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden. In 2001 the name was officially changed to World Masters Athletics and its championship is now called the World Masters Athletics Championships . The shot put competition for men has been a part of the modern Olympics since their revival in 1896, and women's competition began in 1948. These are the current world records in various five-year-groups , maintained by WMA, the World Association of Masters Athletes, which is designated by the World Athletics (formerly IAAF) to conduct the worldwide sport of Masters (Veterans) Athletics (Track and Field). Starting at age 35, each age group starts on the athlete's birthday in years that are evenly divisible by 5 and extends until the next such occurrence. Alfred Proksch
Alfred Proksch (December 11, 1908 – January 3, 2011) was an Austrian Olympic athlete and graphic designer. The son of one of the co-founders of the Wiener Sport-Club, Proksch took an active interest in both athletics and graphic design from an early age. By the age of 19 he had started his own design company and would later become a founder, then president, of the Confederation of Austrian Graphic Designers. He was also a key figure in the founding of Icograda. By the age of 17, Proksch was a champion pole vaulter and competed internationally, most notably placing 6th in the event at the 1936 Summer Olympics. He broke the Austrian record for the event on eight separate occasions. Even after turning 100, he continued to compete at the World's Masters Championships, often unopposed in his age bracket.
