GVU (Utrecht)
Gemeente vervoerbedrijf Utrecht (GVU) ''(English:Utrecht municipal transport)'' was the operator of city buses in Utrecht, Netherlands until December 2013. It is replaced by Qbuzz. History Connexxion took GVU over on 1 January 2007. Since December 2013 Qbuzz took over the operation of city services in Utrecht. In 2000 GVU carried 30 million passengers and this figure continues to rise with 39 million passengers in 2006. GVU used 25m long Van Hool AGG300 buses on routes 11, 12, 12s and occasionally 31. For these routes changed to the road layouts were made. Qbuzz is a public transport company in the Netherlands that operates services in South Holland, Utrecht, Drenthe and Groningen. Founded in 2008, it was a 100% subsidiary of Nederlandse Spoorwegen (the Dutch National Railway Operator) between 2013 and 2017. Connexxion is a large Public transport in the Netherlands, public transport company in the Netherlands, operating in the west, middle, east and southwest parts of the country. It is owned by Transdev and Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten. It is a subsidiary of Transdev Netherlands. History Connexxion was formed on 10 May 1999 from a merger between transport companies NZH, ZWN, Midnet and Oostnet. Van Hool AGG300
The Van Hool AGG300 is a 25-metre long bi-articulated bus produced by Van Hool NV at their Belgian facility in Koningshooikt. In the 1990s two prototypes were built, one of these vehicles still remains in service in Liège, and the other (ex-demonstrator) in Angola. In 2001, the AGG300 received an updated front design and became known as the newAGG300. In 2002, GVB of Utrecht ordered 15 buses of this type for lines 11 and 12, which are particularly busy. Utrecht was the first city where these buses were widely used. In 2003, 12 additional buses were delivered. In June 2006, as part of the 100th anniversary of public transport in Groningen, an AGG300 was ordered as part of a 3-day demonstration, which ran route 15 in the morning and route 22 in the afternoon. ABC Industries of North America has plans to bring the AGG300 into USA and Canada, although the length of the bus will probably mean it will exceed regulations. Van Hool NV () is a Belgian family-owned coachbuilder and manufacturer of buses, coaches, trolleybuses, and trailers. Most of the buses and coaches are built entirely by Van Hool, with engines and axles sourced from Caterpillar, Cummins, DAF and MAN and gearboxes from ZF or Voith.
