GNN (news Channel)
G News Network, commonly known as GNN, is a Pakistani 24-hour news and current affairs channel based in Lahore, Pakistan. It is owned and operated by Gourmet Foods. It was launched in 2005 as CNBC Pakistan under a license from CNBC Asia Pacific. It was then owned by Vision Network Television Limited. In 2015, it was renamed as Jaag TV and was relaunched. In 2018, it was again relaunched with a new name GNN. History It started its transmission under name of CNBC Pakistan by taking a license from CNBC Asia. It was then owned by Vision Network Television. In 2015, it was relaunched as Jaag TV after struggling to compete in the Pakistani market. The channel continued to struggle and was bought by Pakistani bakery company, Gourmet Bakeries. Reportedly, they bought it for 1.5 billion to diversify their business. Hamid Mir
Hamid Mir ( ur, Øامد میر; born 23 July 1966) is a Pakistani journalist, columnist and writer. Born in Lahore to a journalistic family, Mir initially worked as a journalist with Pakistani newspapers. He has hosted the political talk show ''Capital Talk'' on Geo News intermittently since 2002. He writes columns for Urdu as well as English newspapers, both national and international. He has been a contributor to the Global Opinions section of ''The Washington Post'' since June 2021. He is well-known for his stance against the dominance of the Establishment in Pakistan. Hamid Mir has survived two assassination attempts, has been banned from television three times, and has lost his job twice due to his stand for press freedom and human rights. Shahid Masood ( ur, ) is a Pakistani columnist and political analyst who hosts the talk show ''Live with Dr. Shahid Masood'' on GNN. He is known for his series ''End of Time'' on ARY''.'' Previously, he served as Group executive director of Geo TV and senior Executive Director of ARY Digital Network. In 2008, he was briefly appointed as the managing director and chairman of Pakistan Television Corporation and also served as the special assistant to then-Prime Minister of Pakistan Yousaf Raza Gillani with the status of a minister of state in the Gillani ministry. Geo Television Network is a television channel based in Pakistan. It was established in May 2002 and is owned by the Jang Media Group. The channel began its test transmission on 14 August 2002, with regular transmission beginning on 1 October 2002. History Geo Network was founded in May 2002 by Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman. It started out with the launch of its flagship channel Geo News in October 2002. Hamid Mir joined the channel and became one of the first journalists to join Geo News. He started hosting the political talk show Capital Talk which is the flagship show of Geo News. The first guest at the show was Makhdoom Ameen Faheem with whom Mir discussed the 2002 Pakistan general election. Amir Mir is a veteran Pakistani journalist who is currently CEO of GNN, a digital media project. Earlier until 2019, he was working as chief operational officer of the news channel GNN as well as a founding member since the channel's inception in August 2018.
