Georgia Library Association
The Georgia Library Association (GLA) is a professional organization in the United States for Georgia's librarians and library workers. It is headquartered in Savannah, Georgia. It was founded as The Georgia Library Club by members of the Young Men's Library of Atlanta and Georgia Federation of Women's Clubs. The organization changed its name to the Georgia Library Association at its first business meeting. GLAs first president was Anne Wallace, elected at the organization's first meeting May 31, 1897, in Atlanta, Georgia. The Georgia Library Association was open only to White librarians until the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The American Library Association (ALA) asked each state chapter to recertify itself by 1956 and required that each state have a single, integrated chapter. The Georgia Library Association did not recertify and lost their chapter status. By 1965 the Georgia Library Association complied and was restored. E. J. Greater London Authority
The Greater London Authority (GLA), colloquially known by the metonym "City Hall", is the devolved regional governance body of Greater London. It consists of two political branches: the executive Mayoralty (currently led by Sadiq Khan) and the 25-member London Assembly, which serves as a means of checks and balances on the former. Since May 2016, both branches have been under the control of the London Labour Party. The authority was established in 2000, following a local referendum, and derives most of its powers from the Greater London Authority Act 1999 and the Greater London Authority Act 2007. Great Lakes Airlines was an American regional airline operating domestic scheduled and charter services. Corporate headquarters were in Cheyenne, Wyoming, with a hub at Denver International Airport. Ghana Library Association
The Ghana Library Association (GLA) is the main professional organisation representing libraries and information services in Ghana. It was founded in 1962 by the West African Library Association (WALA). Eve Evans had started the WALA and she was to have an important role in creating a library service in Ghana. The GLA is a registered professional association established under the Professional Bodies Decree NRCD 143 of 1973 with Registered No. PB 21 on 2 August 1986 in accordance with the laws of Ghana. It publishes the ''Ghana Library Journal'', a peer-reviewed journal of Library science. The association has been in existence for over 54 years. It went through a period of activity and inactivity in the 1970s, but since 1983 it has been revived and growing steadily. A general lighthouse authority (GLA) is one of three agencies primarily responsible for aids to navigation in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. They are divided into regions as follows: *Trinity House: England & Wales, Channel Islands and Gibraltar *Northern Lighthouse Board: Scotland and the Isle of Man *Commissioners of Irish Lights (the C.I.L.): the whole of Ireland A local lighthouse authority (LLA) is a port, harbour, or other party providing navigational aids in a locality as part of its facilities.
