Grupo Desportivo e Cultural do Correio da Manhã was a Portugal, Portuguese sports club based in Lisbon. Founded in 1981 by employees of the newspaper Correio da Manhã, the club was better known for its futsal team whose greater successes included two Liga Portuguesa de Futsal, Portuguese Futsal League wins and one Taça de Portugal de Futsal, Portuguese Futsal Cup. The futsal team ceased playing after the 2003–04 Campeonato Nacional da 1ª Divisão de Futsal, 2003–04 season ceding its spot in the league to C.F. Estrela da Amadora (futsal), Estrela da Amadora. Futsal Clubs In Portugal
Futsal is a football-based game played on a hard court smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors. It has similarities to five-a-side football and indoor football. Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor soccer, it is played on a hard court surface marked by lines; walls or boards are not used. It is played with a smaller, harder, lower-bounce ball than football. The surface, ball and rules favour ball control and passing in small spaces. The game emphasizes control, improvisation, creativity and technique. Naming ''Futsal'' comes from the Portuguese ''futebol de salão'' and from the Spanish ''fútbol sala'' or ''fútbol de salón'' (all translatable as "indoor football").
