GCL Astros
The Florida Complex League Astros are a Rookie-level affiliate of the Houston Astros, competing in the Florida Complex League of Minor League Baseball. Prior to the 2021 season, the team was known as the Gulf Coast League Astros. The team plays its home games in West Palm Beach, Florida, at the FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches. The team is composed mainly of players who are in their first year of professional baseball either as draftees or non-drafted free agents from the United States, Canada, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and other countries. Florida Complex League
The Florida Complex League (FCL) is a rookie-level Minor League Baseball league that operates in Florida, United States. Before 2021, it was known as the Gulf Coast League (GCL). Together with the Arizona Complex League (ACL), it forms the lowest rung on the North American minor-league ladder. FCL teams play at the minor league spring training complexes of their parent Major League Baseball (MLB) clubs and are owned by those parent clubs. Admission is not charged, and no concessions are operated at the teams' games. Every Grapefruit League team fields at least one team in the league. Night games are commonly played in the spring training stadium, although games may also be played at the team's practice fields. Marty Malloy
Marty Thomas Malloy (born July 6, 1972) is a former Major League Baseball second baseman who played two seasons, and current manager of the Clearwater Threshers. He played with the Atlanta Braves for 11 games during the 1998 season, and the Florida Marlins for 24 games during the 2002 season. Malloy was the subject of Paul Hemphill's 1996 book ''Heart of the Game: The Education of a Minor-League Ball Player''. Edgardo Ralph Romero Rivera (born December 9, 1957) is a Puerto Rican former professional baseball infielder and coach in Major League Baseball (MLB). Omar E. López (born January 3, 1977) is a Venezuelan former professional baseball player and coach, scout, and manager in Minor League Baseball (MiLB). He is the first base coach for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB), a role in which he has served since 2020. López has worked in the Astros' organization since 1999. The Gulf Coast League (GCL) Royals were a minor league baseball franchise in the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League from 1971–1978, 1982–1983 and 1985–2002. The club was owned and operated by the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball. Bobby Ramos
Roberto Ramos (born November 5, 1955) is a Cuban former professional baseball player and coach in Major League Baseball. He was nicknamed 'Sugar Bear'. Ramos was a catcher. He was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the seventh round of the 1974 amateur draft and made his major league debut on September 26, 1978, in a 5–3 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, going 0-for-1 in the game. In 1982, Ramos was sent to the New York Yankees in exchange for fellow catcher Brad Gulden. Six months later, the Expos purchased his contract from the Yankees and Ramos found himself back in Montreal, where he finished his career. He played his final major league game on September 9, 1984, again against the Phillies, and was released by the Expos on March 28, 1985.
