State Route 316 (SR 316), also known as University Parkway, or Georgia 316, is a State highway (US), state highway that exists in the North Georgia, northern part of the U.S. state of Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia. It links the Atlanta metropolitan area with Athens, Georgia, Athens, home of the University of Georgia. The first of the state highway is a freeway, but the rest of the route is at-grade with traffic signals with the exception of its junction with Georgia State Route 81, SR 81 east of Bethlehem, Georgia, Bethlehem. Despite SR 316 being concurrent with U.S. Route 29 in Georgia, US 29 for most of its route, the road is nearly always referred to by its state route designation, while US 29 is usually associated with its original route. Gwinnett County ( ) is located in the north central portion of the U.S. state of Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia. It forms part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. In 2020 United States census, 2020, the population was 957,062, making it the second-most populous county in Georgia (after Fulton County, Georgia, Fulton County). Its county seat is Lawrenceville, Georgia, Lawrenceville.
