GAIA Chamber Music Festival
The GAIA Music Festival was founded by violinist Gwendolyn Masin. The festival is hosted annually, usually in the month of May, in Oberhofen am Thunersee, Oberhofen and Hilterfingen, as well as the cities of Thun and Berne. The Festival is non-profit. From 2010 until 2014, the Patron of the Festival was David Zinman. History First hosted in Stuttgart under a different name, the GAIA Chamber Music Festival was founded in 2006. In 2009, the festival made its debut in Switzerland and was honoured with the Göppinger Kulturpreis - a prize awarded for outstanding and innovative voluntary cultural work. In 2014, the Festival was renamed to the GAIA Music Festival. Musicians Each year, artists from all over the globe spend just over a week living, working and collaborating together in Thun. Audience Response At GAIA Chamber Music Festival
An audience is a group of people who participate in a show or encounter a work of art, literature (in which they are called "readers"), theatre, music (in which they are called "listeners"), video games (in which they are called "players"), or academics in any medium. Audience members participate in different ways in different kinds of art. Some events invite overt audience participation and others allow only modest clapping and criticism and reception. Media audience studies have become a recognized part of the curriculum. Audience theory offers scholarly insight into audiences in general. Louise Hopkins
Louise Hopkins (born 1965) is a British contemporary artist and painter who lives and works in Glasgow, Scotland. Biography Hopkins was born in Hertfordshire, England and completed the Foundations Studies course at Brighton Polytechnic from 1984 to 1985. She studied fine art at Newcastle Polytechnic between 1985 and 1988, graduating with a B.A.(Hons). For a time, after graduating from Newcastle Polytechnic, she lived and worked in Australia, where she also exhibited. After a two-year course she graduated from Glasgow School of Art with a master's degree in 1994. Hopkins quickly gained recognition in Glasgow and London after graduating in 1994. Pascal Rogé
Pascal Rogé (born 6 April 1951) is a French pianist. His playing includes the works of compatriot composers Saint-Saëns, Fauré, Debussy, Ravel, Satie, and Poulenc, among others. However, his repertoire also covers the German and Austrian masters Haydn, Mozart, Brahms, and Beethoven. Biography Rogé first appearance in public was in 1960 with a performance of Claude Debussy's Préludes. He won the piano prize at the Paris Conservatory and worked for several years with Julius Katchen. At seventeen, he gave his first recitals in major European cities, landing an exclusive contract with Decca in the process. Vincenzo Maltempo
Vincenzo Maltempo (born July 2, 1985) is an Italian pianist. He was born in Benevento, Italy. He began his musical studies with Salvatore Orlando, disciple of the pianist Sergio Fiorentino, with whom he graduated at S. Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, summa cum laude. From 2006 to 2009 he attended the courses held by Riccardo Risaliti at the International Piano Academy " Incontri col Maestro" in Imola. Aleksandar Madžar (musician)
Aleksandar Madžar (born in Belgrade, 1968) is a Serbian pianist. Madžar first studied piano with Gordana Malinović, Arbo Valdma and Eliso Virsaladze in Belgrade and Moscow, then with Edouard Mirzoian at the Strasbourg Conservatory and in Brussels with Daniel Blumenthal. He now holds professorships at the Royal Conservatoire, Brussels and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Bern. Madžar was awarded the 3rd prize at the XII Leeds competition. Alexander Lonquich
Alexander Lonquich (born 28 August 1960 in Trier) is a German classical pianist and conductor. Biography Lonquich studied with Paul Badura-Skoda, Andrzej Jasiński, and Ilonka Deckers-Küszler. He won the first prize at the Alessandro Casagrande Piano Competition in Terni, Italy, at the age of 16. In 1980, he received an honorable mention at the X International Chopin Piano Competition. Peter Frankl (born 2 October 1935) is a Hungary, Hungarian-born United Kingdom, British pianist. Finghin Collins (born 31 March 1977) is an Irish pianist. He won first prize at the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Vevey, Switzerland, in 1999. Kaspar Zehnder
Kaspar Zehnder (born 27 August 1970 in Riggisberg, Canton of Bern) is a Swiss conductor and flutist. He studied classical languages at the Lyceum in Bern and music at the University of the Arts Bern. His music teachers included Heidi Indermühle (flute), Ewald Körner (conducting), Agathe Rytz-Jaggi (piano) and Peter Streiff and Arthur Furer ( music theory). He further took conducting master classes with Ralf Weikert, Werner-Andreas Albert and Horst Stein.
