G. Rama Iyer
Malay styles and titles, Tan Sri G.K. Rama Iyer (Tamil language, Tamil: ஜி. ராமா ஐயர்) (13 March 1932 – 17 March 2020) was a Malaysian civil servant, who served as Secretary-General of the Primary Industries Ministry and chairman of Malaysian Airlines. He did much for the civil service in the years following independence. He was born in 1932 in Penang. His father was V.K. Ganapathy Iyer, a teacher at Penang Free School. Rama himself was educated in Penang Free School. Rama was the older brother to lawyer Sulaiman Abdullah. Another brother, G. The Malay language has a complex system of Style (manner of address), styles, titles and honorifics which are used extensively in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the southern Philippines. Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore and several Provinces of Indonesia, provinces in Indonesia regularly award honorary and life titles. What follows in this article is specific to the Malaysian system. References to Brunei and Indonesia are given when pertinent. In Malaysia, all non-hereditary titles can be granted to both men and women. Sulaiman Abdullah (6 July 1946 – 18 December 2023) was a Malaysian lawyer who acted in a number of the country's most famous trials and served as president of the Malaysian Bar Council.
