''G.B.F.'' (''Gay Best Friend'') is a 2013 American Teen film, teen comedy film directed by Darren Stein and produced by School Pictures, Parting Shots Media, and Logolite Entertainment. The film had its first official screening at the Tribeca Film Festival, 2013 Tribeca Film Festival in April 2013 and was released theatrically on January 17, 2014, by Vertical Entertainment. ''G.B.F.'' focuses on closeted gay high school students Tanner and Brent. When Tanner is outed, he is picked up by the cool girls and he begins to surpass still-closeted Brent in popularity. Darren Stein
Darren Stein (born December 24, 1971) is an American film director, screenwriter, and film producer who grew up in the San Fernando Valley. Among his works include the documentary ''Put the Camera on Me'', the 2010 horror comedy ''All About Evil'', and the satirical major motion picture '' Jawbreaker'' - which was deemed a "cult classic" by the ''New York Post'', and is still referenced today in mainstream sources. Career Stein started using his father's video camera at the age of ten, creating a body of work that would later be seen in his documentary Put the Camera on Me. Hi Fashion is an American electropop duo, consisting of Jen DM and Rick Gradone. The band's music features electronic, upbeat pop songs, many with ironic and humorous lyrics. DM and Gradone are both originally from New York but both are now based in Los Angeles. Currently, Hi Fashion has released two Eps, their debut, "Sprechen Sie Hi Fashion?" and 2013 follow up "You Are Gorgeous." Biography Gradone and DM met in a gay bar in New York City.
