G-Note
Lil Italy (born September 8, 1973) is an American rapper who began his career as G-Note of California rap group Funk Mobb, who were signed to E-40's label Sick With It Records from 1994 to 1998, when the group disbanded. He joined No Limit Records in 1998 under the new stage name of Lil Italy, and released his first and only album with No Limit, ''On Top of da World'', in 1999. The record peaked at #99 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and #20 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and featured guest appearances from the likes of Silkk the Shocker, Snoop Dogg, and Magic, but Lil Italy was soon dropped from the label due to poor sales. Lil Italy's second album, ''Full Blown,'' was distributed by independent label K-Lou in 2001, but it did not chart. In 2011, he returned after a decade-long hiatus with the new release ''My Life,'' which is only available as an MP3 download. He was born to Jamaican-American parents. Funk Mobb
Funk Mobb was an American, short lived rap group composed of Bay Area rappers, K-1, G-Note and Mac Shawn who were signed by Sick Wid It and Jive Records. They were only active from 1994 to 1998, first appearing on Little Bruce's debut album, XXXtra Mannish and then releasing their one and only album in 1996, ''It Ain't 4 Play''. It peaked at number 46 on the ''Billboard'' Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and at number 28 on the ''Billboard'' Top Heatseekers. After the album the group would disband with Mac Shawn releasing two albums, 1997's ''Music fo' the Mobb'' and 2001's ''Worldwide Bosses and Playas'' and even joining Death Row Records for a short while. In 1999 G-Note joined No Limit Records and changed his name to Lil Italy. There he released his debut solo album, ''On Top of da World''. ''It Ain't 4 Play'' is the only studio album released by American hip hop group Funk Mobb. It was released July 15, 1996 via Sick Wid It/Jive Records. Production was handled by K-Lou, Studio Ton, LeVitti, Kevin Gardner, Redwine, Stevie Dee, and Funk Mobb, with E-40 and B-Legit serving as executive producers. It features guest appearances from B-Legit, Little Bruce, Smitty, Levitti, Double OJK, Gangsta P, and Poo-Miller.
