G-Unit Records Albums
G-Unit (short for Guerilla Unit) was an American Hip hop music, hip hop group formed by longtime friends and East Coast hip hop, East Coast rappers 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, and Lloyd Banks. After amassing a string of self-released mixtapes in the early 2000s, the group released their debut album ''Beg for Mercy'' in 2003, which went on to ship over four million copies in the US and was certified RIAA certification, quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). During Tony Yayo's imprisonment in 2003, the group recruited Tennessee-based rapper Young Buck as a temporary replacement and later an official member. The Game (rapper), The Game was also made a member in late 2003 in an effort to promote him after he was signed to Aftermath Entertainment, Aftermath/Interscope Records, Interscope, but he was removed from the group after several months. Tony Yayo
Marvin Bernard (born March 31, 1978), better known by his stage name Tony Yayo, is an American rapper. He is best known as a member of G-Unit, a hip hop group he formed with his childhood friends 50 Cent and Lloyd Banks. Yayo released his debut and only studio album, '' Thoughts of a Predicate Felon'', in 2005, which debuted at number 2 on the ''Billboard'' 200. His stage name is derived from the 1983 film '' Scarface'', referencing the main character Tony Montana, and Yayo, the slang word for cocaine. Early life Yayo was born Marvin Bernard in Brooklyn, New York, New York City to Haitian parents, the youngest of three children. Bernard's parents divorced when he was 16. At age 15 he began selling drugs and dropped out of school in the tenth grade. As a child, he met his lifelong friends Lloyd Banks and 50 Cent, and the trio eventually formed a group, G-Unit, and began working on music together, releasing a number of mixtapes in the early 2000s, including 2002's 50 Cent i ...
