Färjestaden
Färjestaden is a locality situated in Mörbylånga Municipality, Kalmar County, Sweden with 5,018 inhabitants in 2010. It is located in the southern part on the island of Öland, on the Kalmar Strait-side of the island, south of Borgholm. Färjestaden, literally ''The Ferry Town'', is named after the ferries that used to be the only connection to the mainland. Nowadays the car-bridge Ölandsbron connects the mainland with the island, and Färjestaden has had an impressive population increase, making it several times bigger than the town Mörbylånga. In the city center of Färjestaden there is a shopping mall with, among other things, a pharmacy, grocery store and local library. FBC Kalmarsund
FBC Kalmarsund, up to 2011 known as Färjestadens IBK, is a Swedish floorball team, from Färjestaden, Öland, that plays in the Swedish Division 1 South. In the 2007–08 season, they played in Swedish Super League, the highest league of Swedish floorball. They ended last and were relegated to Division 1 South for the 2008–2009 season. They now play in the Swedish Super League again. History The club was founded by a couple of friends in 1990. In 1998, FIBK men's team played in the Swedish Division 5. Eight years later in 2006–07,. the club won their Division 1 group and qualified for Swedish Super League during the 2007–08 season. The club became Öland's first Elitserien club in any ball game. Öland
Öland (, ; ; sometimes written ''Øland'' in other Scandinavian languages, and often ''Oland'' internationally; la, Oelandia) is the second-largest Swedish island and the smallest of the traditional provinces of Sweden. Öland has an area of and is located in the Baltic Sea just off the coast of Småland. The island has 26,000 inhabitants. It is separated from the mainland by the Kalmar Strait and connected to it by the Öland Bridge, which opened on 30 September 1972. Mörbylånga Municipality
Mörbylånga Municipality (''Mörbylånga kommun'') is a municipality in Kalmar County, in south-eastern Sweden, located on the island of Öland in the Baltic Sea. The seat is located in the town of Mörbylånga, while the largest town is Färjestaden. The present municipality, making up the southern part of Öland, was formed in 1974. The eighteen original entities (as of 1863) had during the nationwide subdivision reform of 1952 been regrouped into three larger units. ''Ottenby'' was amalgamated with Mörbylånga in 1967 and 1974 ''Torslunda'' was added. Mörbylånga Municipality contains several ancient remains, just like the northern Öland municipality of Borgholm. Borgholm
Borgholm () is a city and the seat of Borgholm Municipality, Kalmar County, Sweden with 4,401 inhabitants in 2020. It is located on the island of Öland in the Baltic Sea, at the Kalmar Strait-side of Öland, north of Färjestaden. Borgholm is one of Sweden's historical towns with a former city status (''stad''). The city is best known for its once-magnificent fortress – Borgholm Castle – which is now ruined. Borgholm is, despite its small population, for historical reasons normally still referred to as a ''city''. The Kalmar Strait ( sv, Kalmarsund) is a strait in the Baltic Sea, located between the Swedish island of Öland and the province of Småland of the Swedish mainland.
