Fuzön (band)
Fuzön ( – literal English pronunciation: "fusion") is a pop rock band from Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan formed in 2001. The name was derived from ''fusion'', as the former lead vocalist of the band, Shafqat Amanat Ali describes the band as a fusion of Hindustani classical and modern soft rock music blended with the Sufi Style of singing. Fuzön encompasses hybrid styles of pop and rock instrumentation. ''Saagar'' ( ur, ساگر; ; ) is the debut album by the Pakistani pop rock band, Fuzön, released in January, 2002 by Amazing Productions/Empire Music Limited in Pakistan and by Virgin Records in India. The album is also known eponymously as ''Fuzön,'' and was re-released in 2004 by the Sound Master record label. ''Saagar'' is noteworthy for embedding elements of Hindustani classical ''ragas'' within pop rock and jazz compositions, and is widely considered a pathbreaking album for the way it revolutionized Pakistani music in the 2000s. The rise of musical bands in Pakistan began in the 1980s when cassettes first came into Pakistan bringing in a wave of Western rock music. Western-influenced rock music began to feature in underground concerts all across the country. In the 1980s, rock bands Vital Signs and Strings rose in defiance of the authoritarian regime and gained immense popularity amongst the youth. Vital Signs is widely regarded as Pakistan's first and most successful pop-rock band. ''Dor'' () is a 2006 Indian Hindi-language drama film written and directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and features Ayesha Takia, Gul Panag and Shreyas Talpade as the lead actors. Nagesh Kukunoor (born 30 March 1967) is an Indian film director, producer, screenwriter and actor known for his works predominantly in Hindi cinema, and few Telugu language films.
