Funtime (Iggy Pop Song)
"Funtime" is a song written by Iggy Pop and David Bowie, first released by Iggy Pop on his 1977 album entitled ''The Idiot''. It reflects Iggy and Bowie's growing fascination with the German music scene, and bears marked similarities to "Lila Engel" by krautrock band Neu!. It has since been covered by multiple artists including Blondie, Boy George, Bebe Buell, Peter Murphy, R.E.M. and The Cars. Composition Iggy had the idea for the song after hearing the Sex Pistols cover the song " No Fun" by his band The Stooges, lyrically the song's ironic take on fun is similar to the song in question. David Bowie wrote the music as well as plays guitar, synthesizers, piano and sings the main chorus on the track. Most notably one of the riffs he plays is a parody of the main riff of The Rolling Stones' " (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction". Funtime (The Spitfire Boys Song)
"Funtime" is a single released by the Spitfire Boys, on Impeccable Records, in 1979. The band's line-up on this release were David Littler (lead vocals, guitar), the only remaining member of the band, and ex-Nylonz members, Peter Millman (guitar), Kurt Prasser (bass) and Chris Brazier (drums). The band was formed in Cardiff, Wales, as the White Brothers, by David Francis after dissolving the Photons The Photons was a punk/ new wave band active between 1977 and 1978. They are most notable for their vocalist Steve Strange, who went on to form Visage. Two of Visage's early singles, "Tar" and " Mind of a Toy", were originally Photons' songs ..., but before the release of the single, he was persuaded to rename themselves as the Spitfire Boys, for better sales. Funtime Comics is a Christchurch, New Zealand based collective of comic artists and writers whose aim is to provide a forum for the promotion and discussion of the comic medium, promote New Zealand comics and encourage local writers and artists through the publishing of their own comics. Funtime publishes the Funtime Comics Anthology, and a variety of other comics, many of which are collaborative efforts, featuring stories and artwork from local and international comics artists. History Funtime Comics was formed in 1990 by a group of comic artists and enthusiasts from the University of Canterbury. Funtime, Inc was an American amusement and entertainment company located in Cleveland, Ohio. The company was established in 1965. It owned several properties throughout its 31-year-long lifespan. History Funtime Inc. was established in 1965 when four former Cedar Point employees, including Gasper Lococo (1928–2016), a former military sergeant from Huron, pooled their resources and purchased Geauga Lake in Ohio for $5 million. The park had previously been owned by members of the Kuhlman/Schryer family. In 1983, the company began managing Wyandot Lake in Columbus, Ohio. That same year FunTime acquired 50% controlling interest in Darien Lake. In 1995, Funtime entered into an agreement to manage Lake Compounce in Bristol, Connecticut. Sale to Premier Parks In August 1995 Funtime, Inc. was acquired by Premier Parks (later Six Flags) for $60 million. Funtime is an amusement ride manufacturer based in Dölsach, Austria. The company manufactures rides such as the Sling Shot, Star Flyer, and Vomatron. History In 1998, Funtime was established in the suburb of Bundall on the Gold Coast, Australia. Shortly after, the company opened a small amusement park in Surfers Paradise, a nearby Gold Coast suburb. At the time, the amusement park was known as Adrenalin Park and featured the company's Sling Shot and Vomatron rides. In 2010, Funtime threatened legal action against Dutch amusement ride manufacturer, Mondial, after that company unveiled the WindSeeker which bears similarities to Funtime's patented Star Flyer ride. Mondial responded to the threat by stating that "there is no merit to Funtime's claim". The matter did not progress.
