Five Star
Five Star (also styled as 5 Star) are a British pop group, formed in 1983 and comprising siblings Stedman, Lorraine, Denise, Doris and Delroy Pearson. Between 1985 and 1988, Five Star had four top 20 albums and 15 top 40 singles in the UK, including the top 10 hits "System Addict" (1986), " Can't Wait Another Minute" (1986), "Find the Time" (1986), " Rain or Shine" (1986), " Stay Out of My Life" (1987) and "The Slightest Touch" (1987). They won the 1987 Brit Award for Best British Group. Biography 1980s The five-piece group of siblings from Romford were masterminded by their father and manager, Buster Pearson, who modelled them in the style of the Jackson 5. ''Eclipse'' is an album by the British pop group Five Star. Released in 2001, the album was released via the Internet only through the group's fan club, run by their father and then-manager, Buster Pearson. The CD was a professionally printed disc, with CD booklet including sleeve notes and track information. The art work was designed by Pearson. The album was never properly "completed" and only released at the insistence of their manager/father. The band's future was in question at this time as Doris and Delroy no longer wanted to perform, though both contributed to the ''Eclipse'' sessions. The band promoted the album as a threesome of Stedman, Lorraine and Deniece Pearson. Only one single was issued from the album, " Funktafied". Again, this could only be purchased from their fan club. Doris Pearson (born Doris May Pearson, June 8, 1966) is an English singer and ex member of the pop group, Five Star. Career Doris Pearson, the eldest of the three Pearson sisters, was born in Brent, London. She was the choreographer of the group, teaching the other members of Five Star the dance routines to their hits. She, like the other members, sang backing vocals and wrote songs for Five Star albums. Her first self-penned song, an uptempo pop track "Don't You Know I Love It", appeared as a b-side to their second UK Top 10 and biggest US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 hit, "Can't Wait Another Minute", and later popped up on their multi-million selling 1986 album, '' Silk And Steel''. Buster Pearson (4 May 1941 – 14 October 2012), born Stedman Pearson in Jamaica, was a musician and producer, and father and former manager of British pop group Five Star. He also owned and ran a number of record labels, most notably the 1970s reggae label K&B Records and the 1980s R&B/dance label Tent Records.
