Full Disclosure (mailing List)
Full disclosure is a "lightly moderated" security mailing list generally used for discussion about information security and disclosure of vulnerabilities. The list was created on July 9, 2002 by Len Rose and also administered by him, who later handed it off to John Cartwright. After Len Rose shut down netsys.com, the list was hosted and sponsored by Secunia. The Full Disclosure mailing list was originally created because many people felt that the Bugtraq mailing list had "changed for the worse". In March 2014 Cartwright shutdown the original Full-Disclosure mailing list because an "unnamed" security researcher made requests for large-scale deletion of information and threatened legal action. Cartwright wrote on the list's homepage, "I always assumed that the turning point would be a sweeping request for large-scale deletion of information that some vendor or other had taken exception to. Information security, sometimes shortened to InfoSec, is the practice of protecting information by mitigating information risks. It is part of information risk management. Leonard Rose (hacker)
Leonard Rose (born 1959 in Elkton, Maryland), aka Terminus, is an American hacker who in 1991 accepted a plea bargain that convicted him of two counts of wire fraud stemming from publishing an article in ''Phrack'' magazine. He wrote an article for ''Phrack'' explaining how trojan horses worked and excerpted 21 lines of the AT&T SVR3.2 "login.c" source code. This prompted both AT&T and the United States Secret Service to raid his home and seize a moving truck full of computers, books, electronics and paperwork from his home office in Middletown, MD. The two counts of wire fraud stemmed from him sending two pieces of email (the actual article containing excerpts of login.c to the publishers of ''Phrack'' on two occasions, as Craig Neidorf (aka Knight Lightning; then the co-publisher of ''Phrack'') had accidentally deleted the original mail. Secunia
Flexera is an American computer software company based in Itasca, Illinois. History On 1 April 2008, Macrovision sold its software division to the Thoma Bravo investment fund, which became Acresso Software. Macrovision subsequently changed its name to Rovi Corporation. In October 2009, Acresso Software, Inc. became Flexera Software after a clash with a company of similar name. Flexera acquired Australian based ManageSoft in 2010. Managesoft was OSA (Open Software Associates), which itself came out of HP's Australian Software Organisation. Bugtraq
Bugtraq was an electronic mailing list dedicated to issues about computer security. On-topic issues are new discussions about vulnerabilities, vendor security-related announcements, methods of exploitation, and how to fix them. It was a high-volume mailing list, with as many as 776 posts in a month, and almost all new security vulnerabilities were discussed on the list in its early days. The forum provided a vehicle for anyone to disclose and discuss computer vulnerabilities, including security researchers and product vendors. While the service has not been officially terminated, and its archives are still publicly accessible, no new posts have been made since January 2021. Gordon Lyon (also known by his pseudonym Fyodor Vaskovich) is an American network security expert, creator of Nmap and writer of books, websites, and technical papers about network security. He is a founding member of the Honeynet Project and was Vice President of Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility.
