"Fuiste un Trozo de Hielo en la Escarcha" (English: ''You Were a Piece of Ice in the Frost'') is a ballad originally written by José María Cano for the female singer Amaya Uranga's (former Mocedades member) debut solo studio album ''Volver'', released in 1986. It was later covered by Puerto Rican singer Chayanne with production by Ronnie Foster. It was released as the third single from the Grammy nominated studio album '' Chayanne II'' (1988) and became the first number-one single for the singer in the ''Billboard'' Hot Latin Tracks chart in late 1989 and the first number-one single by a Puerto Rican musician. Salsa music is a style of Latin American music. Because most of the basic musical components predate the labeling of salsa, there have been many controversies regarding its origin. Most songs considered as salsa are primarily based on son montuno, with elements of mambo, Latin jazz, bomba, plena and guaracha. All of these elements are adapted to fit the basic son montuno template when performed within the context of salsa. Originally the name salsa was used to label commercially several styles of Latin dance music, but nowadays it is considered a musical style on its own and one of the staples of Latin American culture. The first self-identified salsa bands were predominantly assembled by Cuban and Puerto Rican musicians in New York City in the '70s. The Hot Latin Songs chart (formerly Hot Latin 50 and Hot Latin Tracks), published in ''Billboard'' magazine, is a record chart based on Latin music airplay. The data were compiled by the ''Billboard'' chart and research department with information from 70 Spanish-language radio stations in the United States and Puerto Rico. Those radio stations were selected based on their number of listeners, and were asked to report their playlists for the week. This information was then entered to the ''Billboard'' computer system, and points were tabulated for each song. Before this chart's inception, the Latin music information on the magazine was presented only in the form of the biweekly album sales chart Top Latin Albums, which was divided into Latin Pop, Tropical/Salsa, and Region Mexican and continues to be listed separately. Los Bukis
Los Bukis (The Bukis, ''buki'' translates as ''Little Kid'' in the Yaqui language) are a Mexican Grupera band from Ario de Rosales, Michoacan. In 1973, the band was founded by cousins Marco Antonio Solís and Joel Solís. Their first song was ''Falso Amor'' ("False Love") and its style became popular throughout Latin America. Marco Antonio wrote the songs; the album "Me Volvi a Acordar de Ti" in the year of 1986 sold one million records in just a few weeks after its launch, earning the album "diamond" status. He also wrote and produced albums for artists such as Marisela, Rocío Dúrcal, Beatriz Adriana, Lucero, El Pegasso de Emilio Reyna (now using the name El Pega Pega), and María Sorté. After twenty years of success, in 1996, Marco decided to pursue a solo career. The band disbanded.
