Frédéric De Lafresnaye
Baron Nöel Frédéric Armand André de Lafresnaye (24 July 1783 – 14 July 1861) was a French ornithologist and collector. Lafresnaye was born into an aristocratic family at Chateau de La Fresnaye in Falaise, Calvados, Falaise, Normandy. He took an early interest in natural history, particularly entomology. It was only after acquiring a collection of European birds that he turned his attention to ornithology. Lafresnaye described a number of new bird species, some with Alcide d'Orbigny. He accumulated a collection of over 8,000 bird skins at his home. After his death the collection was purchased by the American collector Henry Bryant (naturalist), Henry Bryant and donated to the Boston Society of Natural History, Boston Natural History Society. Lafresnaye's Vanga
Lafresnaye's vanga (''Xenopirostris xenopirostris'') is a species of bird in the vanga family Vangidae. The species is monotypic and one of three species in the genus ''Xenopirostris''. It is endemic to the south and south west of Madagascar. It inhabits sub-arid thorn scrub, in the Madagascar spiny forests ecoregion, particularly areas with large amounts of dead wood, from sea level to . The species has a small range is not common within that range. It was uplisted from Least Concern to Near Threatened in 2022 as it is experiencing moderately rapid population decline owing to habitat degradation and loss within its range. The common name for the species is derived from the French ornithologist who described it, Frédéric de Lafresnaye. Lafresnaye's Woodcreeper
Lafresnaye's woodcreeper (''Xiphorhynchus guttatus guttatoides'') is a resident passerine bird found in tropical South America in the western and southern Amazon and adjacent sections of the Cerrado. It is often considered a subspecies of the buff-throated woodcreeper, but this combined "species" would be polyphyletic. It includes the dusky-billed woodcreeper (''Xiphorhynchus guttatoides eytoni''), which sometimes is considered a separate species (''see Taxonomy).
