''Frontier Days'' is a 1934 American western film directed by Robert F. Hill and starring Bill Cody, Ada Ince and Wheeler Oakman. It was produced by independent Poverty Row outfit Altmount Pictures for release as a second feature.Pitts p.359 Location shooting took place in the Alabama Hills in California. Synopsis A detective working for Wells Fargo goes undercover as The Pinto Kid to investigate the killings of a series of stagecoach drivers. However this leads to himself being accused of the murder of one of them. Stagecoach
A stagecoach is a four-wheeled public transport coach used to carry paying passengers and light packages on journeys long enough to need a change of horses. It is strongly sprung and generally drawn by four horses although some versions are drawn by six horses. Commonly used before steam-powered rail transport was available, a stagecoach made long scheduled trips using ''stage stations'' or posts where the stagecoach's horses would be replaced by fresh horses. The business of running stagecoaches or the act of journeying in them was known as staging. James Lew Meehan (September 7, 1890 – August 10, 1951) was an American film actor. Meehan appeared in more than 200 films between 1921 and 1947. Herman H. Hackenjos (June 15, 1899 – October 19, 1967) was an American film and television actor who appeared in over 500 films. Hack was born in Panola, Illinois. Barney Beasley
Barney Beasley (June 20, 1895 – June 1, 1951) was an American character actor of the 1930s and 1940s. Biography Born on June 20, 1895, in the small town of Blaine Bottom, Oklahoma, Beasley made his debut in films in 1930's ''Under Montana Skies'', in a small un-credited role of a townsman. Almost all of his roles were small and un-credited, many of them nameless, with three of his most numerous being that of a townsman, barfly or henchman. Occasionally, he would be given a slightly larger role, as of that of Pete in 1935's ''Gun Play''. His final performance was as a barfly in the 1944 film, ''The Last Horseman''. Beasley died on June 1, 1951, in Los Angeles, California, and was buried in the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California. Robert McKenzie (September 22, 1880 – July 8, 1949) was an Irish-born American film actor. He appeared in more than 310 films between 1915 and 1946. McKenzie was married to the actress Eva McKenzie until his death from a heart attack in 1949. The two appeared as husband and wife in The Three Stooges' film '' The Yoke's on Me''. William Desmond (actor)
William Desmond (born William Mannion; January 23, 1878 – November 3, 1949) was an American actor. He appeared in more than 200 films between 1915 and 1948. He was nicknamed "The King of the Silent Serials." Born William Mannion in Horseheads, New York, he was raised in New York City. He later changed his surname to a stage name. He started out in vaudeville and the legitimate stage before making his film debut. In 1919, he married his co-star Mary McIvor, with whom he had two daughters. On November 3, 1949, Desmond died at age 71 of a heart attack in Los Angeles, California. He is interred at the Chapel of the Pines Crematory, Los Angeles. Victor Potel
Victor Potel (October 12, 1889 – March 8, 1947) was an American film character actor who began in the silent era and appeared in more than 430 films in his 38-year career. Career Victor Potel was born in Lafayette, Indiana in 1889, and his acting career goes back almost to the beginning of the commercial film industry in the United States. He made his first silent film in 1910, a comedy short filmed in Chicago by Essanay Film Manufacturing Company called ''A Dog on Business''. Potel continued to make films for Essanay, appearing in dozens of films every year, including most of the Broncho Billy series, and played a character called "Slippery Slim" in 80 movies.
