"From Souvenirs to Souvenirs" is a song by Greek singer Demis Roussos from his 1975 album ''Souvenirs''. It was also released as a single (in 1975 on Philips Records). Background and writing The song was written by the Greek composers Alec R. Costandinos and Stélios Vlavianós. The recording was produced by Demis Roussos. In 1975, the same year Roussos released the song, it was performed in Greek by Greek singer Marinella, but her version went unnoticed. Popularity in the Soviet Union In the Soviet Union, "From Souvenirs to Souvenirs" was the most popular of all of Demis Roussos's songs. According to radio presenter , Roussos didn't consider "From Souvenirs to Souvenirs" an international hit and before one of his first concerts in the USSR in the 1990s Balabanov had to explain to him that the audience would not let him leave the stage without singing "From Souvenirs to Souvenirs". Artemios "Demis" Ventouris-Roussos ( ; el, Αρτέμιος "Ντέμης" Βεντούρης-Ρούσσος, ; 15 June 1946 – 25 January 2015) was a Greek singer, songwriter and musician. As a band member he is best remembered for his work in the progressive rock music act Aphrodite's Child, but as a vocal soloist, his repertoire included hit songs like " Goodbye, My Love, Goodbye", "From Souvenirs to Souvenirs" and " Forever and Ever". Stylianós Vlavianós ( el, Στυλιανός Βλαβιανός), often called Stélios Vlavianós, (born 7 July 1947) is a Greek composer, musical arranger, a member of the Sacem and the SACD, among others. Biography Vlavianós was born in Athens. His musical apprenticeship began at the age of 3 with his father Stefanos Vlavianos, a musician with the Athens Radio Orchestra (trombonist) and an eclectic theorist. At the age of 10, he entered the Greek National Conservatory in Maria Hatjopoulou's piano class. He was later a student with French composer Pierre Petit, then director of the École Normale de Musique de Paris. The master taught him counterpoint, fugue, harmony, composition, orchestration for more than a dozen years before dying prematurely. In the 1970s, he composed songs for artists such as Demis Roussos, Shirley Bassey, Engelbert Humperdinck, and Al Martino. Agatha Christie (russian: Агата Кристи) was a Soviet and Russian rock band. Formed in 1985 by Vadim Samoylov, Alexander Kozlov, and Peter Mai in Sverdlovsk. under the name VIA RTF UPI (Russian: ВИА РТФ УПИ) the band changed their name to Agatha Christie, after the detective fiction author, in 1988 and went on to become one of the most notable Russian rock acts in the mid to late 1990s.
