Frimley Green
Frimley Green is a large village and ward of in the Borough of Surrey Heath in Surrey, England, approximately southwest of central London. It is south of the town of Frimley. Lakeside Country Club was the national venue for the BDO international darts competition. It was played yearly in the village between 1986 and 2019. The nearest railway stations are Frimley on the line between Ascot and Aldershot, Farnborough North on the North Downs Line and Farnborough (Main) on the South West Main Line. Geography Soil, elevation and boundaries The land slopes down from Deepcut, partly on the Chobham Ridges to the east, to the River Blackwater which is preceded by the lakes and small woods in the south-west of the ward which form the boundary with Hampshire. Surrey Heath
Surrey Heath is a local government district with borough status in Surrey, England. Its council is based in Camberley. Much of the area is within the Metropolitan Green Belt. History The district was formed on 1 April 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, as a merger of Frimley and Camberley Urban District, and Bagshot Rural District. The Borough acquired its name because it includes extensive areas of heath and woodland including Chobham Common and Lightwater Country Park. Bagshot Rural District Bagshot Rural District formed the largest part of Surrey Heath. The villages and hamlets in Bagshot rural district comprised Lightwater, Bagshot, Windlesham, Chobham including West End and Bisley. Mytchett
Mytchett is a village in the Borough of Surrey Heath in Surrey, England, approximately southwest of central London. It is to the east of Farnborough (in Hampshire), the nearest town. Much of the village dates from the first half of the twentieth century. Mytchett had a population of 4,624 in the 2011 Census. Frimley Lodge Park
Frimley Lodge Park is a recreational site located between Frimley Green and Mytchett in Surrey, England. The park was largely developed in 1987–88 to include several football and rugby fields, two children's play areas and trim trail. It is also the location of the Frimley Lodge Park Miniature Railway, which runs in the northern wooded part of the park. The park is also the home ground of Frimley Green Cricket Club, who play Sunday friendly matches between May and September. Since February 2010 the park has been home to Frimley Lodge parkrun which takes place on Saturday mornings at 9:00am. It is run over two laps in the park and along the Basingstoke Canal towpath, and runners meet by the pavilion beforehand. Basingstoke Canal
The Basingstoke Canal is an English canal, completed in 1794, built to connect Basingstoke with the River Thames at Weybridge via the Wey Navigation. From Basingstoke, the canal passes through or near Greywell, North Warnborough, Odiham, Dogmersfield, Fleet, Farnborough Airfield, Aldershot, Mytchett, Brookwood, Knaphill and Woking. Its eastern end is at Byfleet, where it connects to the Wey Navigation. This, in turn, leads to the River Thames at Weybridge. Its intended purpose was to allow boats to travel from the docks in East London to Basingstoke. It was never a commercial success and, from 1950, lack of maintenance allowed the canal to become increasingly derelict. After many years of neglect, restoration commenced in 1977 and on 10 May 1991 the canal was reopened as a fully navigable waterway from the River Wey to almost as far as the Greywell Tunnel.
