Scenic Rim is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. It was created in the 2017 redistribution, and was won at the 2017 election by Jon Krause. Located in South-East Queensland, Scenic Rim covers the Scenic Rim Region and some areas in the south of Ipswich and Logan extending to the New South Wales border, including the towns of Beaudesert and Boonah. It largely replaces the abolished district of Beaudesert. From results of the 2015 election, Scenic Rim was estimated to be a fairly safe seat for the Liberal National Party with a margin of 9.2%. Dugandan (pronounced ''Doog-an-dan'') is a rural town and locality in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Dugandan had a population of 593 people. Geography ''Teviot Brook'' forms part of the western boundary before flowing through to the north. The Boonah – Rathdowney Road (State Route 93) runs through from north to south. History The name ''Dugandan'' is believed to be a Ugarapul word ''dugai/tugai'' meaning ''mountain spur place''. Originally the name was used for a large pastoral run established in 1884, covering a much larger area than the current locality from Boonah to Mount Joyce. As a result, the name Dugandan was used for the present day town of Boonah until the 1880s when it acquired its present name. Mount French is a mountain in South East Queensland, Australia. The mountain rises 579 m above sea level and is part of the Moogerah Peaks National Park. It lies approximately 100 km west of Brisbane in the locality of Mount French west of the town of Boonah in the Scenic Rim Region. Other prominent peaks in the Scenic Rim group of mountains include Mount Edwards, Mount Moon and Mount Greville. The traditional owners of the mountain, the Ugarapul people, named the two peaks Punchagin (the southern peak) and Mee-bor-rum (the northern peak). In 1827, Patrick Logan named the peak Mount Dumaresq. The name was changed after Allan Cunningham named another mountain with the same name, coincidentally on the same day.
