Free Poets Collective
Free poets Collective, started in Connecticut, United States in 2010, as a platform for national and international poets who didn't belong to any formal poetry group, but that freely wanted to share their poetry and arts related talent through international calls and special venues. They have created several international programs, calls and events thought the years, reaching the recognition and support of many important cultural institutions. Projects and events Free Poets Collective has hosted the Spoken Word Series, created programs such as: One Soldier One Poem ( for Connecticut's passed War Veterans), World Language Night and Poetry, the Legends of Poetry and brought to CT the Woman Scream International Poetry Festival in honor of women and against women abuse. Connecticut
Connecticut () is the southernmost state in the New England region of the Northeastern United States. It is bordered by Rhode Island to the east, Massachusetts to the north, New York to the west, and Long Island Sound to the south. Its capital is Hartford and its most populous city is Bridgeport. Historically the state is part of New England as well as the tri-state area with New York and New Jersey. The state is named for the Connecticut River which approximately bisects the state. The word "Connecticut" is derived from various anglicized spellings of "Quinnetuket”, a Mohegan-Pequot word for "long tidal river". The Women Poets International Movement (also known as Movimiento Mujeres Poetas Internacional MPI) is an international non-profit organization operated out of the Dominican Republic. It was first launched in 2009 and focuses on the promotion of female poets and poetry through collective projects, publications and events. Events Women Poets International is a nonprofit foundation started in November 2009 at the Dominican Republic, committed to promoting the work of contemporary female poets internationally through collective projects, and with the social responsibility of sharing messages of respect, self-esteem and nonviolence against women. National Theater Of The Deaf
The National Theatre of the Deaf (NTD) is a Connecticut-based theatre company founded in 1967, and is the oldest theatre company in the United States with a continuous history of domestic and international touring, as well as producing original works. NTD productions combine American Sign Language with spoken language to fulfill the theatre's mission statement of linking Deaf and hearing communities, providing more exposure to sign language, and educating the public about Deaf art. The NTD is affiliated with a drama school, also founded in 1967, and with the Little Theatre of the Deaf (LTD), established in 1968 to produce shows for a younger audience. American Poetry
American poetry refers to the poetry of the United States. It arose first as efforts by American colonists to add their voices to English poetry in the 17th century, well before the constitutional unification of the Thirteen Colonies (although a strong oral tradition often likened to poetry already existed among Native American societies).
