Fredrika Bremer
Fredrika Bremer (17 August 1801 – 31 December 1865) was a Finnish-born Swedish writer and feminist reformer. Her ''Sketches of Everyday Life'' were wildly popular in Britain and the United States during the 1840s and 1850s and she is regarded as the Swedish Jane Austen, bringing the realist novel to prominence in Swedish literature. In her late 30s, she successfully petitioned King Charles XIV for emancipation from her brother's wardship; in her 50s, her novel '' Hertha'' prompted a social movement that granted all unmarried Swedish women legal majority at the age of 25 and established Högre Lärarinneseminariet, Sweden's first female tertiary school. It also inspired Sophie Adlersparre to begin publishing the ''Home Review'', Sweden's first women's magazine as well as the later magazine '' Hertha''. Fredrika Eleonora von Düben (December 17, 1738 – March 1, 1808) was a Swedish dilettante painter and embroidery artist Biography Fredrika Eleonora was born to Baron Joachim von Düben the Younger and Catharina Eleonora Temminck, daughter of Hendrik Temminck. Her father was a nephew of royal favourite Emerentia von Düben (1669–1743) and served as the cabinet secretary of Ulrika Eleonora, Queen of Sweden. In 1759, she married Count Nils Adam Bielke (1724-1792), who was previously married to her relative Ulrika Eleonora von Düben (1722–1758). She was maid of honour to Queen Louisa Ulrika of Prussia from 1757 to 1759 and Chief Court mistress of the Swedish queen dowager in 1771–1782. Catharina Fredrika Limnell née Forssberg (14 July 1816 – 12 September 1897), was a Swedish people, Swedish philanthropist, mecenate, feminist and salon (gathering), salonist. Private life Fredrika Forssberg was born in Härnösand Municipality in Västernorrland County, Sweden, as the daughter of lektor Olof Fredrik Forssberg and Catharina Margareta Svedbom. She had two siblings, but the elder sister died in first year of life and her younger sister drowned when she was 13. Fredrika Limnell was raised in a literary home and had the ability to cultivate her interests in literature and music. Prior to her first marriage, she was engaged to the poet Anders Grafström, but the engagement was terminated on her initiative. Fredrika Charlotta Runeberg (née Tengström; 2 September 1807, Jakobstad – 27 May 1879, Helsinki) was a Finnish (Finland-Swedish) novelist, journalist and the wife of Finland's national poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg. She was a pioneer of Finnish historical fiction and one of the first woman journalists in Finland. In her own time, she was mainly known as the wife of her famous husband, poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg. The family lived most of their life in Porvoo, where she created most of her works, including the historical novel ''Fru Catharina Boije och hennes döttrar'' (1858). She wrote in Swedish. Fredrika Stahl (born 24 October 1984) is a Swedish singer and songwriter signed to Sony Music in France. Her style is a mix of jazz and pop. Along with singing, Fredrika plays the piano and guitar. Her debut album, ''A Fraction of You'' was released in 2006. It features musicians such as Tom McClung (piano, also arrangements), José Palmer (guitar), Diego Imbert (Double Bass) and Karl Jannuska (drums). Stahl wrote the lyrics and music on her debut album. Fredrika Stenhammar (née Andrée; 19 September 1836 in Visby – 7 October 1880) was a Swedish opera singer (soprano). She was born as Fredrika Andrée to doctor Andreas Andrée and was sister of Sweden's first female organist, Elfrida Andrée. She was a student at the Conservatory in Leipzig in 1851–54, was employed at the '' Hofoper'' in Dessau in 185-55, and at the Royal Swedish Opera in 1855–57. The Fredrika Bremer Association ( sv, Fredrika Bremer Förbundet, abbreviated FBF) is the oldest women's rights organisation in Sweden. The association stands for an inclusive, intersectional and progressive liberal feminism, and advocates for women's rights and LGBT rights. It is traditionally the foremost organisation of the bourgeois-liberal women's movement in Sweden. It has always been open to both women and men. It is a member of the International Alliance of Women, and is a sister association of the Danish Women's Society, the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights and the Icelandic Women's Rights Association. The Fredrika Bremer Intermediate School or Bremer School is a historic former school building in the Camden region of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. It is considered Minneapolis's oldest intact school building, whose original section was constructed 1886–87. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its significance in architecture and education, representing the 19th-century emphasis on education through its castle-like design and its origin during a frenzy of construction by Minneapolis Public Schools.
