Frederick George Jackson
Frederick George Jackson (6 March 1860 – 13 March 1938) was an English Arctic explorer remembered for his expedition to Franz Josef Land, when he located the missing Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen. Biography Early life Jackson was born the son of George Frederick and Mary Elizabeth Jackson at Alcester Lodge, Alcester, Warwickshire, England and educated at Denstone College in Staffordshire and Edinburgh University. Career His first voyage in Arctic waters was on a whaling cruise in 1886–1887, and in 1893 he made a sledge-journey of 3000 miles across the frozen tundra of Siberia lying between the Ob and the Pechora. His narrative of this journey was published under the title of ''The Great Frozen Land'' (1895). Jackson–Harmsworth expedition On his return, he was given the command of the Jackson–Harmsworth expedition of 1894. Frederick Huth Jackson (1863–1921), was a British banker, and a partner of the merchant bank, Frederick Huth & Co, founded by his great-grandfather, Frederick Huth. Early life He was the son of Thomas Hughes Jackson (1834–1930) and Hermine Meinertzhagen (1838–1897), and the grandson of Sir William Jackson, 1st Baronet. He was educated at Harrow School, and Balliol College, Oxford. Career He was a partner of the private bank, Frederick Huth & Co. From 1918 to 1919, the Rt. Hon. Frederick Huth Jackson, of 64 Rutland Gate, SW was the High Sheriff of the County of London. Frederick Hamilton Jackson
Frederick Hamilton Jackson (1848–1923), also known as Frank, was a painter, designer, and author. He was a frequent exhibitor at the Royal Academy and in other places. Biography F. Hamilton Jackson was born in 1848 in Islington, London. He won a first-class medal at the Royal Academy Schools, and became a teacher at the Slade school of art. He helped to found the Society of Designers, and served as vice-president there; he was similarly a founder member of the London Sketch Club and served as its first honorary secretary. He was a member of the Art Workers' Guild, becoming a council member in 1907; he was also on the council of the Society of Miniature Painters. He became vice-president of the Royal Society of British Artists. He lived in Bedford Park, Chiswick from about 1880 until about 1904, and then moved to Wandsworth. Frederick John Jackson
Sir Frederick John Jackson, (17 February 1860 – 3 February 1929) was an English administrator, explorer and ornithologist. Early years Jackson was born at Oran Hall, near Catterick, North Yorkshire in 1860. He attended Shrewsbury School and then Jesus College, Cambridge. In 1884 he went to Africa on a shooting trip, joining J. G. Haggard, the British consul at Lamu. On this trip he explored the coast of what is now Kenya, the Tana River and Mount Kilimanjaro. As well as shooting big game, he collected birds and butterflies. Soon after the 1886 treaty was signed to delimit the German and British spheres of influence in East Africa he joined the Imperial British East Africa Company (IBEAC). Frederick Stanley Jackson (1875 – 15 April 1957) was a rugby footballer of the early 1900s who represented the Anglo/Welsh British Lions and the New Zealand national rugby league team. Early years Jackson was possibly born in Camborne and educated at the Camborne School of Mines. Other sources claim he was born in Swansea, Wales while the Manchester Evening News reported in 1900 that he was educated at Llandovery College and he may have served in the Boer War. No records of his birth have been found. Rugby union career A Cornish rugby union player (16 Cornish caps), Jackson played 'forward' for Camborne RFC, Plymouth, Leicester and represented A.F. Originally from New York, Jackson began his professional music career in the late 1970s with the California funk band Mystic Merlin. Among his well–known R&B/soul hits are " Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake)" (1985), " Have You Ever Loved Somebody" (1986), " Jam Tonight" (1986), " Do Me Again" (1990), and " You Are My Lady" (1985).
