Frauenthal Center For The Performing Arts
The Frauenthal Center for Performing Arts is located in downtown Muskegon in the U.S. state of Michigan. It consists of the Frauenthal Theater, formerly the Michigan Theater, and additional performance, exhibition, and support spaces in the Hilt Building. The Frauenthal Theater opened as the Michigan Theater in 1930, and was one of 17 theaters in downtown Muskegon. Today, it serves as a cultural center for Muskegon, under the management of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. Programming The Frauenthal Center's programming includes live music, theater, dance, film, and comedy, featuring local and touring artists. West Michigan Symphony Orchestra
The West Michigan Symphony (formerly the West Shore Symphony Orchestra) is a professional orchestra made up of 60 core musicians, performing at the Frauenthal Center for the Performing Arts in Muskegon, Michigan. The current Music Director/ Conductor is Scott Speck. The Orchestra performs eight concerts annually, featuring a range of repertoire and guest artists. History A. M. Courtright, a Muskegon Heights teacher, and Palmer Quackenbush are credited with early efforts to provide Muskegon with a symphony orchestra. In November 1939 a musical group of 50 members presented its first concert, with Quackenbush conducting and Courtright assisting. Miss Michigan
The Miss Michigan competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Michigan in the Miss America pageant. Michigan has won the Miss America crown on five occasions. Melissa Beyrand of Milford was crowned Miss Michigan 2022 on June 18, 2022 at Frauenthal Theatre in Muskegon. Bartola Musical Instrument Company
The Bartola Musical Instrument Company of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, USA, was a producer of theater pipe organs during the age of silent movies. History The company was founded in 1918 by Dan Barton, who was from Amherst, Wisconsin. The sixth largest builder of theater instruments in the nation, Bartola focused almost exclusively on the Midwest market. Barton later recalled, "We decided to work only a limited territory so we could give prompt service to all our installations. his territory includedWisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, Indiana and Ohio.
