Frans Lommen
Joseph Franciscus (Frans) Lommen (August 2, 1921 in Roermond – 2005 in Breda) was a Dutch painter and ceramist. He was educated at the High School of Applied Art, Maastricht. Frans Lommen worked for the ceramics factory Atelier St. Joris in Beesel, where among other things he painted their vases. For their terrace product range, he also designed unique vases. There is a stained glass window of Rigby in the Basilique de Sint-Odiliënberg in Sint Odiliënberg, Limburg. In the village of Sint Odiliënberg there is also a sculpture of a mountain goat on a wooden pole from 1974, and in the village of Melick there is a ceramic sculpture of Frans Lommen of a bird on a high wooden pole from 1979. at vanderkrogt.net. ''Sint'' (released on DVD as ''Saint'' in Europe and ''Saint Nick'' in the United States) is a 2010 Dutch dark comedy horror film about Sinterklaas, the character on which the Anglo-Saxon Santa Claus is based. The film was directed by Dick Maas and marked his return to the horror genre, in which he gained acclaim with his debut ''De Lift'' (1983) and '' Amsterdamned'' (1988). The story distorts the popular traditions of Sinterklaas and portrays him as a ghost who murders large numbers of people when his annual celebration night coincides with a full moon. Beesel (; li, Bezel ) is a municipality and a town in the province of Limburg in the southeastern Netherlands. Sint Odiliënberg
Sint Odiliënberg () is a village in southeast Netherlands, It is located in Roerdalen, Limburg, in the Roer River valley. History Romans settled here very early. Around 700, missionary monks from Ireland, Saints Wiro, Plechelmus, and Otgerus, built a monastery there, which was important in the Christianisation of the Netherlands. In the time of the Viking invasions the Utrecht clergy found shelter here. At first it was a secular collegiate chapter, which later moved to Roermond in the 14th century. A community of the Canons Regular of the Holy Sepulchre settled on the hill during that period. The village was first mentioned in the first half of the 9th century as Mons Petri. The current name means "hill of Odile of Alsace". After the Eighty Years' War, this area came under Spanish rule; it was ceded to the Dutch Republic in 1715.
