Franke Rupert
Franke Rupert (In Hungarian literature: Franke Ruppert; 30 October 1888 in Vienna – 1971) was an Austrian graphic designer and engraver. He worked for the Austro-Hungarian Bank until its liquidation, then for the Hungarian Banknote Printing Co., later for the Oesterreichische Nationalbank. He was the engraver of many pengő banknotes and the designer of the low denomination pengő banknote series of 1938. Austro-Hungarian Bank
The Austro-Hungarian Bank (german: Oesterreichisch-ungarische Bank, hu, Osztrák–Magyar Bank, cs, Rakousko-uherská banka, pl, Bank Austriacko-Węgierski, hr, Austro-Ugarska banka) was the central bank of the Habsburg Monarchy in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The institution was founded in 1816 as the privilegirte oesterreichische National-Bank (), and changed its name in 1878 as a delayed consequence of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867. The Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) is the central bank of Austria and, as such, an integral part of both the European System of Central Banks (ESCB) and the Eurozone. The pengő (; sometimes written as ''pengo'' or ''pengoe'' in English) was the currency of Kingdom of Hungary (1920–46), Hungary between 1 January 1927, when it replaced the Hungarian korona, korona, and 31 July 1946, when it was replaced by the Hungarian forint, forint. The pengő was subdivided into 100 fillér. Although the introduction of the pengő was part of a post-World War I stabilisation program, the currency survived for only 20 years and experienced the most serious case of hyperinflation ever recorded. The schilling (German language, German: ''Schilling'') was the currency of Austria from 1925 to 1938 and from 1945 to 1999, and the circulating currency until 2002. The euro was introduced at a fixed parity of €1 = 13.7603 schilling to replace it. The schilling was divided into 100 groschen.
