Frank Scoblete
Frank Scoblete (born 1947) is an American author who has written both under his own name and King Scobe about casino gambling. Referred to by ''The Washington Post'' as "a widely published authority on casino games," his books include ''Beat the Craps out of the Casinos'', ''Golden Touch Blackjack Revolution,'' and ''Beat the One-Armed Bandits''. He has written and appeared in television documentaries such as the "What Would You Do If ...?" program on The Travel Channel, written numerous columns for gambling magazines and websites, and produced a series of videotapes and DVDs, with most of his work being about the games of craps and blackjack. Riverboat Casino
A riverboat casino is a type of casino on a riverboat found in several states in the United States with frontage on the Mississippi River and its tributaries, or along the Gulf Coast. Several states authorized this type of casino in order to enable gambling but limit the areas where casinos could be constructed; it was a type of legal fiction as the riverboats were seldom if ever taken away from the dock. History Paddlewheel riverboats had long been used on the Mississippi River and its tributaries to transport passengers and freight. After railroads largely superseded them, in the 20th century, they were more frequently used for entertainment excursions, sometimes for several hours, than for passage among riverfront towns. Jean Scott, born Merla McCormick in 1938, is a retired teacher, an advantage player/ comp hustler, and a gambling author who is best known for her 1998 book ''The Frugal Gambler.'' The book features gambling advice for novice gamblers, including money management strategies and how to procure the best casino comps and discounts. Scott was featured on '' 48 Hours'' as a successful video poker player in 1995, which showed her winning a Mercury Marquis car. She has claimed to win over a million dollars at casino gambling as of 2006. Scott published a sequel to her first book, ''More Frugal Gambling'' in 2003. John Grochowski
John Grochowski (born c. 1952) is a gambling columnist and author. His weekly newspaper column began at the ''Chicago Sun-Times'' and is now syndicated nationally. In 1994, the monthly Las Vegas Advisor reported that Grochowski was the first casino gambling columnist at a major U.S. newspaper. In 2012, he also began a weekly Sun-Times column on baseball sabermetrics, the first of its kind in a daily newspaper. In February 2017, Grochowski was ranked No. 9 on a list of top gambling experts by GamblingSites.com. It compared Grochowski to his former Chicago Sun-Times colleague, film critic Roger Ebert, for making his specialty a topic of mainstream conversation. Dice control in casino craps is a controversial theory where proponents claim that individuals can learn to carefully toss the dice so as to influence the outcome. A small but dedicated community of dice shooters claim proof of dice influencing in casino conditions. The concept of such precision shooting claims to elevate craps from a random game of chance to a sport, like bowling, darts, or pool. Many within the advantage gambling community still doubt if dice control can overcome the house advantage on craps. Card counting is a blackjack strategy used to determine whether the player or the dealer has an advantage on the next hand. Card counters are advantage players who try to overcome the casino house edge by keeping a running count of high and low valued cards dealt. They generally bet more when they have an advantage and less when the dealer has an advantage. They also change playing decisions based on the composition of the deck. William Bennett
William John Bennett (born July 31, 1943) is an American conservative politician and political commentator who served as secretary of education from 1985 to 1988 under President Ronald Reagan. He also held the post of director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy under George H. W. Bush.
