Frank S. Regan
Frank Stewart Regan (October 3, 1862–July 25, 1944) was an American businessman and politician. Biography Regan was born in Rockford, Illinois and graduated from Rockford High School. He was involved with the Rockford Abstract Company. Regan served on the Rockford City Council. Regan served in the Illinois House of Representatives in 1899 and 1900 and was elected on the Prohibition Party ticket. He was elected from the 10th district which included Winnebago and Ogle counties in northern Illinois. He was the Prohibition Party's candidate for Illinois Attorney General in 1908 and Illinois Treasurer in 1930. The Prohibition Party (PRO) is a political party in the United States known for its historic opposition to the sale or consumption of alcoholic beverages and as an integral part of the temperance movement. It is the oldest existing third party in the United States and the third-longest active party. Although it was never one of the leading parties in the United States, it was once an important force in the Third Party System during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The organization declined following the enactment of Prohibition in the United States but saw a rise in vote totals following the repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment in 1933.
