Franck André Jamme
Franck André Jamme (21 November 1947 – 1 October 2020) was a French poet. Biography He specialized in the tribal arts of contemporary India, La Pléiade, and René Char. Since 1981, he has published twelve collections containing poems and fragments. He was also a translator of, among others, Lokenath Bhattacharya and Udayan Vajpeyi. For his works, Jamme received the Grand prix de poésie de la SGDL The grand prix de poésie de la SGDL is a French literary award created by the Société des gens de lettres in 1983 in order to reward an author for the whole of his work. This award is given to the winner during the spring session of the company. ... in 2005. The work ''Forêt sensible'' was based on Jamme's ''Nouveaux exercices'' and ''Au secret'', the latter of which was written specifically for the company ''Souffleurs, commandos poétiques''. La Pléiade
La Pléiade () was a group of 16th-century French Renaissance poets whose principal members were Pierre de Ronsard, Joachim du Bellay and Jean-Antoine de Baïf. The name was a reference to another literary group, the original Alexandrian Pleiad of seven Alexandrian poets and tragedians (3rd century B.C.), corresponding to the seven stars of the Pleiades star cluster. René Char
René Émile Char (; 14 June 1907 – 19 February 1988) was a French poet and member of the French Resistance. Biography Char was born in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue in the Vaucluse department of France, the youngest of the four children of Emile Char and Marie-Thérèse Rouget, where his father was mayor and managing director of the Vaucluse plasterworks. He spent his childhood in Névons, the substantial family home completed at his birth, then studied as a boarder at the school of Avignon and subsequently, in 1925, a student at ''L'École de Commerce de Marseille'', where he read Plutarch, François Villon, Racine, the German Romantics, Alfred de Vigny, Gérard de Nerval and Charles Baudelaire. He was tall (1.92 m) and was an active rugby player. After briefly working at Cavaillon, in 1927 he performed his military service in the artillery in Nîmes. Lokenath Bhattacharya
Lokenath Bhattacharya ( bn, লোকনাথ ভট্টাচার্য ; 1927–2001) was a prolific Bengali writer who chose to remain in isolation. Though 15 of his books have been translated into French, only 'Babughater Kumari Maach' (The Virgin Fish of Babughat) has been translated into English. He finished his doctorate study in Paris. After spending his working life in India, he went back to France to spend the last decade of his life with his wife who is French. He has translated the poetry of Rimbaud, Henri Michaux into Bengali. He died in Egypt in a car accident. Life and education He was born in an Orthodox family in Bhatpara, North 24 Parganas West Bengal, India. His initial training was in Sanskrit.
