Francisco María Ruiz
Francisco María Ruiz (1754–1839) was an early settler of San Diego, California Ruiz was born 1754 in Loreto, Baja California. He enlisted in the army when he was 26 and sent to Upper California. He was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant in 1805 in Santa Barbara and transferred to San Diego. Lieutenant Ruiz was Acting Commandant of the Presidio of San Diego during 1809–1820 then Captain and Commandant during September 1821–1827. During this time, the Presidio was relinquished by the Spanish on April 20, 1822. Captain Ruiz retired in 1827 at the age of 73. In 1823 Captain Ruiz received the first private land grant in present San Diego County, the Rancho Los Peñasquitos (Little Cliffs Ranch). This area is still known as Rancho Peñasquitos. Francisco Antonio Ruiz
Francisco Antonio Ruiz (c. 1804 – October 18, 1876) was the '' alcalde'' of San Antonio during the Texas Revolution and was responsible for identifying the bodies of those killed at the Battle of the Alamo. Biography Ruiz was born between 1804 and 1811 in San Antonio, then part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain interior province of Spanish Texas. He was the eldest son of José Francisco Ruiz and Josefa Hernandez. Ruiz supported the Texian cause during the Texas Revolution, when he was the alcade of San Antonio. General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna did not trust Ruiz, and when the Mexican army entered San Antonio to begin the siege of the Alamo, Santa Anna placed Ruiz under house arrest. At the conclusion of the battle, Santa Anna ordered Ruiz to identify the bodies of David Crockett, James Bowie, and William Barret Travis and to dispose of the dead. José Francisco "Francis" Ruiz (''c.'' January 29, 1783 – January 19, 1840) was a Spanish soldier, educator, politician, Republic of Texas Senator, and revolutionary. Early life Ruiz was born in San Antonio de Bexar in the interior province of Spanish Texas, to Juan Manuel Ruiz and María Manuela de la Peña. Francisco Antonio Pascual de la Ascensión Ruiz de Tagle y Portales (; c. 1790 – March 23, 1860) was a Chilean political figure. Francisco Ruiz Lozano (1607, Oruro, Bolivia, Oruro, Bolivia, Alto Perú—1677, Mexico City) was a Peruvian soldier, astronomer, mathematician and educator. Ruiz Lozano was born in Oruro, Bolivia, Oruro (now in Bolivia). He studied with the Jesuits in Lima at the College of San Martín. It was here that he acquired his love of mathematics. José Francisco Ruiz Massieu (July 22, 1946 – September 28, 1994) was a Mexican political figure. He was governor of Guerrero from 1987 to 1993. He then served as the secretary-general of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in 1994. His term ended with his assassination. José Francisco Ruiz Massieu, the brother-in-law of then-President of Mexico Carlos Salinas, was due to become the PRI majority leader in the Chamber of Deputies.
